“We recently completed a major renovation on the upper floor of our bungalow. The major part of the reno was to flip the two biggest spaces where our kitchen became our new living room and our living room became our new kitchen. This idea was partly inspired by Christine but completely supported. We had done virtually nothing to our home since purchasing it in 1995 so this was a very new process for us. Christine was incredibly patient as we considered idea after idea. She had a demeanour that kept us on track and made us feel like our ideas had merit. She wanted us to take the lead on the design because it was our home. But she then took our ideas and created a picture where we could see the transformation from a project to a home. Christine made this process as easy as it could be for us. She took care of some little things along the way just when she could sense it was a little overwhelming. She was reassuring through the entire process and we felt that her genuine effort to make a personal connection made a huge difference. Perhaps the biggest compliment we can give her is that when we walked into our new home the project was completed exactly how we envisioned it. And it felt like home. Christine deserves a lot of the credit for making that happen.”

“Sarah did an amazing job helping us with our basement renovation. We have a small space with some constraints from the original construction of the house, and Sarah nonetheless managed to create a bright and open space that doesn't feel like a basement at all. She also gave us different options at various price points for furniture, and when we wanted some modifications, she quickly turned those around and met ours needs perfectly. If we ever have another home renovation project, we'd absolutely go back to Sarah for our design needs.”

“Terrific from start to finish! HFD was able to able to update our tired kitchen and family room. Made it beautiful as well as functional (I Love to cook and finally have a kitchen that "works"!) Lots of options in terms of pricing - Alicia always presented 3-4 possibilities for each piece we bought that covered a range in pricing. She was professional and knowledgeable and frankly easy to communicate with. She is connected with some terrific suppliers - we got the stone that everyone else wanted!!!! She has great vision and can make it happen!”

This timing was paramount to them understanding our big vision. Three things stand out from our work with Parkyn Design. First, one of the biggest strengths Tania demonstrated was her ability to really listen and understand what we wanted. She really did hear everything we said: our ideas, our dreams, our likes, our dislikes. We saw proof of this in the end results when our home seemed to fit us like a glove. Second, Tania’s experience ensured that our home would be timeless, yet incredibly unique and personal to us. Because Parkyn Design is current with trends and ahead of the curve on what’s coming, we were introduced to new products and materials which made the choices for everything both practical and leading edge. Finally, as first time homebuilders, the process of building, designing and decorating a home can be very intimidating. Parkyn Design made this process fun and enjoyable. ““After first finding Staci and her Switch Studio online, I brought a couple of small pieces of furniture to her and her team to be reupholstered. I was so happy with how everything turned out – and I was also so happy with the cost! Then I asked Staci to help my husband and I pull together our full living room redecoration. We had recently painted and bought new furniture (a sofa and 2 chairs) and could use the small stool and wooden desk chair that Staci’s team had re-upholstered but we still needed window treatments, a rug, lighting, artwork and an overall design plan to help bring it all together. We needed an expert and Staci was the perfect person! We loved the design that Staci pulled together and even months later, I’m still realizing how much Staci came to really understand my husband and I, our design preferences (he and I differ from each other in this area – not easy for Staci!) and the overall look we desired. “Jane is intuitive and clever, never cocky or snobby -she works with real people and budgets and the results are always spectacular. I'm an ex-coworker, I guess, I worked with Jane as the producer of her show, "Colour Confidential". We produced 26 episodes together. Jane was a dream to work with from a TV producing perspective, 'we' transformed over fifty rooms from bare bones to completely decorated- on extremely limited budgets! I LOVED that job -got a design 'fix' everyday! Jane is a colour expert and since the show finished she continues to amaze me with her excellent work with clients, the launch of her own furniture line and her tireless work at Home Shows and designing entire high end model homes for Ontario companies like Kylemore. Jane even won the Pinnacle award and 1st place in the Large Kitchen category at the NKBA Awards in 2011. I know I sound like a commercial but I'm really a big fan. She deserves the recognition and she won't blow her own horn!”
