ARTS OF JODHPUR

We required a king size bed for our master bedroom and chose to buy it from Art of Jodhpur. They carry several traditional 4 poster beds that was exactly what we needed and were satisfied with their pricing as well. We called their number on their contact page and spoke to Mr.Pradeep and checked with him about the 4 poster bed and side tables to go with the bed. Mr.Pradeep was very cordial and sounded genuine and offered the King Size 4 poster bed and side tables at a great price. Logistics wise, the lead time specified was 4 weeks and before shipping they will send you the images and only once you give a heads up they will ship the product. Mr.Pradeep promised if there would be any damage the insurance will cover it and they will take care of any damages. I was very satisfied and decided to go ahead and make the 20% deposit they required via online transfer. I called Mr.Pradeep regularly to check on the status of the bed. He was very co-ordeal through the entire process of making the bed and Mr.Pradeep remembered me every time I called him and kept me updated about the status. Finally exactly after a months time he sent me pictures of the finished product. We clarified about a couple of things with him immediately mainly one being the headboard that was not similar to the main image and secondly the plywood on top of the bed frame was absent in the image were the bed would rest. He clarified and confirmed that the headboard would be the same as in the final product (two pieces were missing from the image) and he would definitely send the plywood on top of the bed-frame. After our heads up, Art of Jodhpur took an additional week to make the shipment citing delay in polish drying off and weather conditions etc and the shipping company "SpotOn" took an additional 2 weeks to deliver the product. Overall we got the bed and side tables almost 7 to 8 weeks after we placed the order for the same. Before the delivery SpotOn asked the rest of the 80% payment in Demand Draft format which was different from the payment terms discussed initially with Art of Jodhpur. Apart from the Demand Draft charges we had to pay an extra Rs.1000 based on the final sum discussed initially. When I clarified the same with Mr.Pradeep, he stated that it was an additional tax that the Karnataka state was imposing due the cost of the product and he mentioned that he spoke to his boss and they agreed to reimburse us the Rs.1000 as it was not something they had specified in their initial pricing discussion. Well we agreed to make the final payment to the courier company SpotOn in Demand Draft (DD) and paid the additional Rs.1000 charged to us as well. Art of Jodhpur have still not reimbursed us this this amount. Please note the courier company SpotOn will not open the shipment and leave it up to you to discuss any damages with Art of Jodhpur. As we feared, once we opened the package there were damages to the shipment. One of the main support frames of the poster bed had cracked and one of the edges of the side table had cracked. I immediately contacted Art of Jodhpur regarding the same and as per their requirement sent high resolution images of the same to their email Id. Mr. Pradeep promised to send replacement for the side table top and mentioned would send a local carpenter to take a look at the bed frame crack. Unfortunately, he has has still not sent any replacement for the side table or has any carpenter visited us to fix the crack. Also, one of the major errors that Art of Jodhpur made was they never shipped the plywood on top of the bed-frame. The bed is useless without the plywood, as you cannot place your mattress on the bed-frame. When I cross checked with Mr.Pradeep he agreed to their mistake and stated the frame would arrive in 3 days time, but in vain, it never arrived. When contacted again couple of times later he mentioned someone would visit and take the measurements and provide us the plywood. But even two weeks later no body contacted us or the plywood never arrived. We tried to reach Mr.Pradeep again but ever since, our calls have been unanswered by him nor our emails. After several frustrated attempts and since we had several guests arriving at our place we decided to go ahead and procure the plywood ourselves asking Art of Jodhpur to reimburse the cost of the plywood. But unfortunately there is still no response to our emails or our SMS's sent to Art of Jodhpur. We ended up paying additional Rs.1900 for the plywood to cover the bed frame. Art of Jodhpur is still to reimburse us the same. The product does not come with Installation. Me and my husband installed it ourselves as it was very easy to install. All we needed was a screwdriver, a spanner and patience. Quality wise, the bed is decent quality, the posters have turned out well, however, there seems to be irregularities in the bed height and the finish could have been better. The side tables have a very poor finish, especially on the bottom portion of the side table were it is not visible unless turned over, the nails are sticking out and polish is missing as well. So in summary, Art of Jodhpur is not someone you can completely rely on, so beware. They have ignored all our calls, emails and texts ever since the product delivery, they are still to owe us Rs.2900 for the additional charges and plywood they never provided, and they are not taking any responsibility to the damages caused during shipment. If you are willing to spend additional money apart from the mentioned price tag on their website, are willing to take responsibility for shipment damages and are willing to accept that there will be zero customer support once the product is delivered, go ahead with Art of Jodhpur. Personally I will never buy any other product from them again and would never recommend this company to any of my friends and well wishers.
