“Description Of Work: Installed new hardwood floors in the dining room and study, new stairs (treads and risers) to the second floor and new wood in the upstairs hall. They sanded the existing hardwood down to the original wood and stained and finished both existing wood and the new wood so it appears as though all the wood was installed at the same time. The job went very well, indeed despite some inherent challenges that the project entailed. One of the main obstacles was blending the new hardwood flooring with existing hardwood in the foyer and kitchen area. This involved cutting out some of the existing flooring and staggering the new wood so the seams would not show and it would look like all the hardwood was installed at the same time. They also had to compensate for a poor job done by another company by installing new and much better looking and fitting wood thresh holds leading to the laundry room and the upstairs bath. The existing hardwood floors were in poor shape due to age and excessive usage so after all the new wood and stairs were installed the entire wood floor was sanded down to the original wood, stained and finished with several coats of scratch resistant poly. Note: to help us decide on a stain color they actually rolled out three different stains on the floor so it was relatively easy for us to make that all important color decision. Once the stains dried back they were sanded off and the floor was readied for the stain application process. In addition to the work outlined above IC Custom installed all new quarter round trim throughout the work area, pulled up a portion of the subfloor that was badly damaged and replaced it with new subfloor material. Likewise, stair carpeting and carpeting in the upstairs hall were also removed and carted away. After the job was complete and upon close examination we realized that the installation of one tread did not meet our expectations. All it took is one call to IC Custom and they had a man to our house the next day where he set about and fixed the problem to our complete satisfaction. Also worth mentioning was the care the team exhibited in sealing off our rooms to minimize dust and dirt transfer from the work area to other parts of the home. “I had searched for vintage, old growth oak flooring in my area for over a year. Having found a beautiful home in Glencoe slated for demolition, I removed 800 sq ft of the vintage quarter sawn and rift sawn floors, de-nailed them and brought them home. Then came the search for the installer. I called around and had a classified ad up. Michael from Mysha's Flooring came out to bid on the job. He was professional and full of knowledgable tips for us whether we used his services or not. A great guy. His bid was not the lowest, but we felt confident in his work. So we decided to hire him. He removed the old flooring and installed the reclaimed, quickly and carefully. Always aware of surrounding areas and kept the job site clean and organized. He kept us in the loop on all phases of the job. I feel like we hit the jackpot with Michael. The floors look beautiful and full of character. He is a lovely person and a truly skilled craftsman with high standards. Would highly recommend him.”

“Mike did a PERFECT JOB. I called 5 different companies to get quotes from on the project. I learned that the existing flooring was extremely thin, and 3 out of 5 said that they would not be able to sand the floors because they were too thin. Mike said he would be able to sand it, and assured me it would look great. I went with Mikes Flooring because he seemed trustworthy, came early, and always answered right away when I called. That is very rare to find! I initially signed a contract to install hardwood throughout my condo, but ended up just wanting to sand and stain the existing flooring instead since it was cheaper. All other companies told me that no matter what I did, nothing was going to look as I would want since the existing floors were so thin and worn. Mike was the only one that assured me it would look great. They were able to sand and stain right on schedule and worked within my tight time frame. I honestly can’t believe how the floors turned out. They look absolutely perfect! I never imagined they would end up looking like brand new floors after what everyone else told me was not possible. Mike did an AMAZING job. 10/10. Since I initially paid Mike to do add in new hardwood floors in the bedroom and I decided not to go that route, Mike drove out to my work and paid me the difference. Again, he answered calls right away and showed up right when he said he would and gave me the money. I am impressed with the superior customer service that he delivered, and the job that he did on my condo. I rarely go out of my way to leave reviews, but I wanted to make sure to pay it forward in this situation. Everyone that comes into my condo compliments my floors right away. Mike did a phenomenal job and he will be the first one I call on all future projects. Mikes Flooring was excellent. I highly recommend them for all flooring projects. Very impressed!”
