“We have used Four Elements for 2 renovation projects now at 2 different homes and would certainly recommend the company for small to large projects. The first was a basement finishing project in 2014 - we started with an unfinished basement and roughed in plumbing in a 2003 home with Four Elements coordinating all trades to frame/drywall/paint/carpentry/electrical/plumbing/installation of carpet and tile. Our project was estimated to take 3 months and was completed within that time frame. We were minimally above budget (I believe it was a couple thousand on 30+) and was in part due to changes that we made as the project went along. The finishing quality was excellent and we were very happy with the completed space (family room, bathroom and small laundry room). Peter (owner) made several excellent recommendations along the way such as the type of lighting to use and was responsive to our comments/suggestions throughout the build. Our second project has just recently concluded and was significantly more complex as it was upgrades/renos throughout a 1960's home on all levels. We installed new exterior doors/window, moved a wall, created a pass thru, painted, installed new flooring, countertops, lighting in the basement, insulation, electrical, and furnace upgrades to name a few. Again, this project was completed on time and very close to our original budget (48+) and was completed within the 2 month time frame Peter estimated. We are very happy with the end results and did not consider using anyone other than Peter and Four Elements for this project based on how well our first experience went.”

“My partner and I decided the renovate the basement of our house to allow for more entertainment space in our small 1950s bungalow. Jackson was very accommodating with all of our requests and had so much patience with all of our questions and fears about this project. He always made himself available for us when we needed him and was able to offer suggestions to improve on our original design idea based on his experience in construction. We had originally made the mistake of hiring a family member to assist us with the plumbing rough-ins for a full bathroom as well as convert the heating system to an on-demand hot water tank/boiler. The family member did not finish the work and left us very suddenly with no heat or water in the house and months behind our projected end date. Jackson was able to step in and take control of the situation immediately and get the project back on track and finish it better than we could have envisioned. It's always difficult with renovations in such an old house, there's always surprises, but he was able to work with everything in the house and allowed us to have the smoothest construction experience.”

This was not a straight forward job, and involved building two exterior walls , a heated crawl space and engineered beams. “We hired Ken to install a barn door in our older townhouse. He came on very short notice, and worked around several challenges due to the age of the home. He's very pleasant to talk to, accommodated changes in plans, and always found a way to "make it work" even though the materials we bought were not ideal. When he was done, we asked him to install a couple of light fixtures, which he did quickly, solving minor problems as they arose. I'm sure we'll use his services again.”

“Randy McCoy, Retrofit Designs did a major renovation to our home. My wife started the process by contacting him a couple of years ago. After meeting with Randy, we had to put the project on hold for two years. This past Spring we are able to give Randy a call to proceed with our dream reservation. What was initially started as a kitchen tear out (taken back to studs) and total renovation, expanded to include renovated main floor powder room, ensuite tearout, total reconfiguration and renovation, & upstairs bathroom renovated. We worked with Randy, and Interior Designer, Rosalyn Lazaruk to put together what best suited the balance of design and cost. Randy and Ros putl together a plan that covered our wish list and budget. Timing was agreed with a 12 to 14 week construction schedule, Mid June through August. No renovation is fun. We planned to have alternative accommodation during construction though I did stay in the basement during some periods of construction. The other thing about renovations is that there is always something else. Our renovation cost was based on certain assumptions that were not the case when the kitchen was torn out. In our case, we needed to add a structural beam and post in the basement and kitchen. Randy can up with a solution that included having a structural engineer agree with solution and sign off on it. This could have been a very upsetting experience but Randy lead us through it with the best possible solution. As with all major renovations adjustments and changes took place. Randy's communication skills made this a comfortable experience. During the renovation, we added items not directly connected with the renovations (changing light fixtures in hall and basement), leveling of doors in basement, painting of living and dining room ceilings. All completed to our satisfaction. Randy's main crew, Derek & Jurgen are exceptional workers and were a pleasure to have doing the renovation. They were mindful about keeping the non construction areas of our home as clean as possible. There are always going to be differences of opinion. We had three issues, a kitchen faucet, the sub floor heating of tile in ensuite, and mirrors in the ensuite. These issues were discussed and corrected measures were taken to our satisfaction. Randy would invoice us on a bi weekly schedule with a clear schedule of costs broken down for materials and labour. Are we happy with our renovation? We are ecstatic over it and so thankful for Retrofit Design, Randy, Ros, Derek, and Jurgen. Highly recommended.”

“We reached out to BEZKAR looking to have our dilapidated deck (a true 'handyman's special') demolished/replaced, and to have a section of old fence removed/replaced. Throughout the entire process of planning, demolishing, and building, Matt and Jared were a dream to deal with. During the design phase they worked with us to discuss options that fit our space and our budget. Once work began, they continued to work with us to find creative solutions to unforeseen challenges (and there were more than a few with that old junker of a deck). Their pride in their work shows, and where some contractors would have said "good enough," Matt and Jared spent the extra time to ensure that everything was done just right. And, they're nice guys on top of it all! Highly recommended.”
