With roots in Alaska, an academic career in Oregon and a professional career in Washington, my design aesthetic has been influenced from the eclectic interiors of Portland and modern northwest architecture in Seattle to blend into a contemporary casual northwest aesthetic. Early training in fine art and music inspired me to pursue interior design in college. I received a BFA in interior design in a program that focused on a holistic approach for sustainable and universal design. While aesthetics play a large role in great design, I take great lengths to understand functionality and guide my clients to a design that inspires, delights and creatively solves issues to either enrich or make my clients' lives easier. I work with every client to design for their life but within their budget. I don't believe in stuffy design or pressuring you into something you don't want. Remodels are stressful enough! At the end of the day, I work for and with you and I make sure that we achieve a space that fits your style.

Urban Oasis LLC was formed by Carrie Culp and Trevor Daley after working together at The Highridge Corporation for many years. The company was born out of the belief that homeowners are looking to invest in their homes for their own enjoyment as well as for a long-term increase in the value of the property. We strive to educate our clients on sustainable construction solutions, including ways in which incorporating sustainable solutions such as rain gardens into a project can gain rebates (in certain areas of Seattle) or overall savings for our customers. Urban Oasis offers strong space planning and design coupled with durable material choices and quality construction that enables homeowners to make informed choices about their project scope, material choices, and construction methods. Urban Oasis provides quality construction at fair prices. Over the years, Carrie and Trevor have developed a specialization in outdoor kitchens, fireplaces and structures that increase the usability of Seattle area properties. Together, as Urban Oasis, they have designed and built many different styles of outdoor rooms, gardens and spaces of all kinds. Urban Oasis strives to create outdoor spaces that reflect their owner’s aesthetic taste. We listen to our clients, look for cues from the style of their homes and indoor spaces, and show lots of images from our portfolio in order to gain a clear understanding of our client’s style. We begin designing by exploring the functionality of the space as it exists and explore ways of improving the layout, flow and usability of our project area. In many cases we will present several concepts at our first design meeting. Working with our clients, we determine the best layout for their desired usage and consolidate ideas from the initial conceptual plans into one unified design. Once the functional design of the spaces has been achieved, we closely examine materials and details that will harmonize with the existing elements in the yard, not the least of which is the house itself. Material choices will affect aesthetics as well as durability and cost. These explorations help tailor the look and feel of each space to the owner’s specific wants and needs as well as guiding the budget for the project.
