KIYOHARA MOFFITT was founded in 1987 by Ko Kiyohara, AIA and Gina G. Moffitt, AIA, LEED AP, to provide quality architectural design services. Gina Moffitt, the current sole principal, brings to the firm over 30 years of practice in Southern California, encompassing a broad range of project types including commercial, residential and interior design. The firm has completed award winning custom homes, and remodels and renovations to residential, commercial and civic buildings. The Franklin Report Los Angeles gave this description of the firm: Kiyohara Moffitt's designs are transitional blends of the best of the past and the best of the present, resulting in a "stunningly becoming work that speaks to both worlds." While traditional materials, such as clapboard or Craftsman millwork, may be employed, they are used in a clean, modern, fresh manner. California contemporary and Spanish Mediterranean are also successfully executed. The firm is further distinguished by its "incredibly accommodating" nature and its "excellent execution" of highly detailed designs—right down to the insides of the drawers. Moreover, the firm is committed to providing good value to the client. GINA GILBERT MOFFITT, AIA, LEED AP, received her architectural degree, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of California at Berkeley in 1976. Shane Ames and Shawn Peterson team up to deliver vastly unique buildings and environments. Our design process is developed by weaving modern ideas with historical influences while attaining your wants and desires. We start with an axial design approach using line of sight, balance or symmetry and good taste, to create the feeling desired. A European background and love for extensive worldwide travel and photography, combined with a penchant for the historical details from the Ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Renaissance architectural styles influence our designs. Combining our unique backgrounds and approach with our clients' ideas and concepts leads to a hint of elegance that emanates and is not just seen “they just feel good without knowing why”. All architectural styles including contemporary can be approached in this fashion to create a timeless and classic piece of functional architecture to view, reside or work within. We have been blessed to have our designs reach globally gracing 6 continents, 30 countries and domestically to over 40 US states.

The work of ANX begins with a fundamental optimism with regard to the continued value and impact that design and architecture have on our cities and their inhabitants. Our approach is positive, opportunistic, and intellectually flexible with every theoretical and commissioned project – both large and small. Our belief is that one can affect significant change through a careful analysis and deconstruction of project conditions, and the application of a thoughtful, conceptually rigorous process. Constraints are opportunities. A broad analysis of a project’s site conditions, environmental context, program, budget, schedule, and jurisdictional parameters are mined for latent opportunities to be metabolized towards innovative and novel design solutions. Our process resists the autonomous and pure in favor of the dependent, messy, and complex possibilities of a poetic inclusion of multiple and often conflicting influences. This process ultimately leads to the intersection of architecture, landscape, and urban networks, and the inherent negotiations necessary to implement a coherent experience respectful of the impact upon the environment. Assumptions are challenged. Our understanding of the capacity for design to organize complex systems with thoughtful intention, environmental appropriateness, and a practical dose of both form and function, is coupled with our belief in the responsibility of the designer to ask questions and challenge assumptions of the built environment. Our ongoing interest in developing experiences that explore space, scale, orientation, light, detail, materiality, and emerging technologies is demonstrated in a wide range of residential, cultural, commercial and landscape projects that question, and when appropriate, inflect existing paradigms. Flexibility is required. We do not jump to conclusions; we test conventional and novel solutions to problems with equal fervor. The manipulation and application of accepted organizational typologies, as well as the transposition of foreign typologies are all fair game. Our design process takes into consideration numerous configurations for all projects and attempts to embed conceptual rigor within each. However, the project’s performance is maintained as the ultimate proof of its success. Bunch Design is a practice that creates high-quality modern design for projects big and small. With a Japanese aesthetic and a careful use of space, we design elegant and stunning houses and Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) at www.bunchadu.com We put a strong emphasis on the inventive use of materials, the qualities of light, use of structure, and the relationship between the space and its users. We consider these issues to be more important than working in a particular style and hope that each project will be an original interpretation of client, site, brief and budget. Bunch does not specialize in a particular style, but rather considers our specialization as bringing quality ideas and spatial experiences to each project. For us, the design is a collaboration between many disciplines, experts, and craftsmen all coming together to make a clear idea and dream a reality. This is the genesis of our company’s name. We hope there is a project that can bring you into our group.
