Active Design & Build did an excellent design (3D rendering) and execution in our kitchen remodel which was a complete gut job to the studs with a new layout which now looks amazing, even refinished hardwood floors. I highly recommend them, I like the transparency of the process, costs, management of expectations, all the dust mitigation efforts, planned schedules and ultimately the fact that they are upstanding people who are accountable. ADB did a great job. Mind you we did this knowingly during Covid-19 with supply chain interruptions from appliance vendors, knew we may face intermittent labor shortages when potential exposures happened, but that goes with the territory. In the end, this project was done in a reasonable amount of time and the end result is spectacular. One piece of advice for anyone doing a kitchen during Covid-19 is to order all cabinets ahead of tearing out your old kitchen, this will save potential downtime in the event of an unforeseen outbreak affects the manufacturer.

Active Design & Build recently completed our rear extension and I couldn't be happier. The job was completed on time and the only changes to the budget were ones made by us asking for additional work. Their team's communication with us throughout the build was excellent, keeping us up to date and answering our questions. All of the guys working on the project were professional and friendly and we appreciated that Active Design & Build had the full range of trades which created a turn-key solution for our project. I also appreciated that the budget included a cleaner at the end so we could move straight back in. I thoroughly recommend the Active Design & Build team!

We had a wonderful experience with the team at Active Design & Build. They performed an extensive renovation of our 6 bed, 4 bath home in Denver that has original 1920's construction. Going into the project we knew we had a reasonable budget to address many of the core issues. However, we were also prepared to face the reality that some items would need to remain out of scope and be addressed in the coming years as our finances permitted. Fortunately, the ADB team took great care in creating a project design that balanced our needs, wants, and budget to make our vision for our home a reality. The build process was seamless. ADB handled all aspects of the design, permitting, building approvals, on-site deliveries, and build out. All we had to do was check on progress and selections in the client portal. That’s another thing we really liked about the company, they embrace technology and have a client portal that allows you to review invoices, make payments, approve changes, and our favorite feature: review photos of the project as it progresses. They continue to impress even after our project ended, as we had additional small things that we wanted to have done and ADB came back several months later at no cost! We are incredibly happy with the final product and can’t thank the entire team enough for making the renovation such a pleasant experience and leaving us with our beautiful home we have dreamed about for years.

We had a 10 week long remodel that started on December of 2019 and took 3 or more times that long. We had multiple project managers. Multiple trades that changed throughout the project. People saying they would show up and not. Quality issues. COVID had an impact to time but the project was supposed to be done before the first lockdowns from that. Communication was spotty at best, I had to manage trades, make threats and do much of the work myself. I even made trips to pick up supplies for the trades since they did not have what they needed.

What is the most expensive mistake you've ever made? If you are considering ADB for your next construction project, prepare to be able to answer that question. Guaranteed end date? They'll pull the rug out on that option with an 11th hour change order the day before the job starts. Helpful design consultants? They'll end up asking you to buy almost all the finishes yourself when you don't like the cheap catalog stuff they bring you. Knowledgeable trades? Try having the accent tile in your master bath re-done 4 separate times - by 4 separate people - and still not look as good as the rest stop gas station. Frequent Communication? They'll wow you with their fancy builder-trend app and then fail to read anything you send, while cycling you through 4 different project managers that find better jobs along the way. Bottom line - we had a 6 week job that turned into an 11 month job, we were blamed for delays, and charged 30% or more above any reasonable price. Don't call ADB.
