Chicago's Client-Focused Interior Designer

Tory Day is a designer and the founder of Tory Day Interiors with over 10 years of experience. Tory received her Master of Arts in Interior Design degree from Harrington College of Design in Chicago. She is also the co-owner of Creative Organization, L.L.C., a professional services firm that provides fully customized home organizing, home staging, and other home improvement services to its clients. Tory received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Upon graduation, she relocated to Chicago and worked for several years in marketing, advertising, and communications. Tory and her husband, Joe, purchased an 1890’s brick Victorian in Chicago’s East Village neighborhood. Together they designed, renovated, and restored the home. This was the spark that ignited Tory’s career and her passion for historic preservation and space transformation. Tory has since applied those skills to myriad clients seeking to decorate or renovate their homes. Her interior design focus is client-centered; she aims to help her clients achieve their visions of beauty and meaning.

Tory designed our tiny master bath, and worked with difficult limitations such as the toilet had to remain in same location. She somehow came up with 5 design options, which amazed me! She recommended a reasonably priced yet first-rate contractor whom she works with regularly, and we were very happy with him also. We are delighted with the outcome. I think she had a good grasp of our style, and her fixture recommendations were very nice. She didn’t overwhelm us with tons of choices, but about 5 each was plenty. She was very pleasant and easy to work with, and very prompt about replying to my texts/emails, and made herself available right away when she needed to come over or discuss something with me. I would use her again for sure.

I hired Tory to design the remodel of a full bathroom. She came up with 4 very interesting designs, one of which I knew was perfect. We then proceeded to get quotes over the next several months. She provided 2 contractors and I contacted 2 others for bids. Since I work downtown most days, she was able to troubleshoot several problems by stopping by or talking to our GC when I wasn't available. Tory is very easy to work with...she's highly professional, responsive, calm and creative. She was a perfect compliment to my rather impulsive decision making that I wanted to make sure was kept under wraps on this project. But I do have opinions! And, Tory was very flexible as we made some changes as the work progressed. Highly recommend! Our bathroom turned out better than I expected which is always a good thing.

Very glad I hired Tory for my kitchen remodel. She was professional, easy to work with, and worked seamlessly with the contractor and all of the suppliers. It made the project easy for me. Her design sense is great and she listened well to what I wanted. The product is a kitchen that’s beautiful and highly functional. I also like her fee structure- it’s transparent and I never felt pressured into anything. She’d be my first call for any future project!

We hired Tory to help us when we moved from our home of 15 years into a down-sized condominium. Tory made it easy for us by providing options of floor plans accompanied with composite pictures showing color palette, furniture and furnishings. We kept very few pieces from our home, which she wove into the new design. She helped us select wall colors, including carpeting and stain on existing hardwood floors. She added drama to our compact space by creating an accent wall in our dining area which always gets compliments and we love it too. She respected our budget and was resourceful in finding options for getting the look we were after. Tory is very professional, organized and has great resources. We did a lot of the legwork ourselves but she can and will do more for you. We love how the condo has turned out and we will continue to work with her.

I have been working with Tory for the past 10 years. She has done a multitude of projects for me including my daughter's bedroom, my master bath, my office, even staging and accessorizing. Currently, she's helping me design my patio to make it inviting and warm. I can't recommend her highly enough.. She has a creative vision and "gets" my style. I've worked with other designers who are tend to impose their style. She has helped me to transform my house from traditional 80's style to stylish, modern with clean. Also, her referrals for contractors are excellent. She works within any budget in a timely way and is a pleasure to work with.

Tory prepared my home for sale. From the first stage of decluttering and organizing to final staging before sale, she executed flawlessly, and has an extraordinary eye for beauty and detail. She anticipated what was needed and provided outstanding project leadership. Tory has exceedingly high professional standards, and met or exceeded deadlines. She knew just what was needed. I did not have to think of a thing! My home sold within a very short turn around, with a price that delighted me. This was only possible with Tory's expertise and talent. And she is an absolute delight to work with!

I had worked with Tory Day before so when I needed a designer to remodel my bathroom, I immediately thought of her. She listens to what I want, finds samples for me to review, coordinates with the contractors, and checks on progress/resolves issues along the way. She is great at choosing reliable and knowledgeable vendors to work with too. The work went flawlessly, quickly, and the result was fantastic. I will use her again this year when I redo my other bathroom.
