We recently worked with Debra Shannon on the remodel of our main bathroom. She was essential to the success of our project. Deb listened carefully to our goals and preferences, then suggested design features and products to meet them. She shared ideas that we would not have thought of on our own. Because of her knowledge and experience with both design and construction, Debra helped us avoid possible mistakes. Her network of technicians and craftspeople helped keep the project on track. She was responsive and able to ease potentially stressful issues with calm and good humor. I would definitely recommend Debra Shannon.

It was great to have Debra guide us through the process of remodeling our kitchen. Her and her contractor team are very professional and gave us the high quality and modernized kitchen we wanted.

We recently did two remodel projects in our house. The first was a pretty significant remodel of our downstairs family room, play space, and guest room/bathroom. The second was our master bath upstairs, including our closets. We hired Debra to help us with all the design work on both. We had a very rough idea of what we liked, but weren’t sure about how to select the materials and finishes that would help us get to that final vision. Debra was HUGELY helpful in that part of the design process in particular. We just love the way both bathrooms came out! One of my favorite parts was actually the luxury vinyl plank Debra recommended and we have now installed throughout our entire bottom floor. She helped us match a color that would complement our upstairs hardwood floors and meet the needs of our house (very active household with 2 young kids, a dog and 2 cats). I never would have considered the vinyl plank and now LOVE it and how durable it is, easy to clean and looks great. I also really love the color combinations we have both in our master bath and downstairs - they look contemporary/modern and are neutral enough that I can add color (as Debra suggested) through towels/linens/furniture. We have gotten so many complements on the finished projects from our family and friends! I just wish we weren’t still in this Shelter in Place so we could show off our master bath which had the final shower glass installed after a couple month “pause”. Thank you Debra for helping us get to an incredible space we LOVE!!!

I would give Debra 10 stars if I could! Debra is the consummate professional and keeps the client's needs and preferences as her #1 priority throughout the entire project. She has excellent design taste and is extremely knowledgable about all aspects of a major remodeling project. She is also a superb project manager. I would not consider doing another home remodel project any any type without her.

My project was a complete remodel of a 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo, originally built in the '80s. I couldn't be happier with the beautiful end result. I met Debra at Symmetry Designs after another designer I had hired decided that she wasn't interested in my project and walked away. I didn't know at the time what a blessing that would turn out to be. Debra stepped in without missing a beat. She quickly grasped my style preferences and was able to help me see wonderful new options. She introduced me to to the contracting crew and managed most of the communication with them. I really can't imagine how I could have gotten through this project without her. She's not only great at what she does, but she is kind and thoughtful and was able to keep me sane when the need to make rapid decisions accelerated and stress levels rose. If you are embarking on a renovation, call Debra. You'll be glad you did.

We had a fantastic experience with Debra and cannot recommend her enough. She did an excellent job of helping us prioritize and organize our remodel, steered us away from several really bad choices we almost made and turned our house into something beautiful. One of her strengths is understanding the construction process and being able to organize and coordinate with those teams. I hired Debra Shannon for her design esthetic, and as a check and balance to our excellent general contractor and other subs on our job. She performed very admirably on both counts. She and our contractor worked really well together, not always in agreement, but producing a great outcome from our perspective. Debra has the ability to look down the line -- at implications of construction and design decisions as well as how the space will be used -- and uses this insight to make excellent recommendations. And Debra's taste is second to none. Debra sized us up really well, and developed designs that were simple, elegant, and high quality. This was mainly a bathroom remodel in a 1930s house. Her ideas captured the vintage vibe of the house, but added perfect modern touches to make the space interesting, useful, and timeless. I recommend Debra very highly and would avail myself of her services in the future.

Debra Shannon was a pleasure to work with in guiding the design of our remodeled kitchen and bath. She has a great eye for finishes and kept us on a good path, giving us realistic timelines in our work with the contractor and various subs and suppliers and helping us to choose wisely among the overwhelming number options. We love our new kitchen and bath. The finished product owes a great deal to Deb’s care and creativity. We worked with her on a previous bathroom remodel and have been delighted to do so once more.

My wife and I worked with Deb for about a year on our ground up, new home build. Deb was invaluable throughout the entire process. A good designer helps to keep the process fun, limit the anxiety, and provides peace of mind in your choices. Deb was all that and more. She helped us with the disconcerting question of, How do I know I can live with this choice for the rest of my life? She also was a great sounding board for the inevitable disagreements between my wife and me. From the beginning Deb helped us start to picture how we would live in our new home. It was very beneficial to have her thoughts during the architectural design. She took all our Houzz ideabooks and concerns into account and helped us really figure out what we wanted out of a contemporary home. When building a new home there are a ridiculous amount of choices that had to be made and hundreds of options for each choice so it was a great help to have Deb sort through and present us with good, better, best options. She always provided a Why as well which I appreciated. She was open to suggestions for alternative places to purchase items, but I did like her dealer recommendations. She was always professional and courteous and gave us great tips and food for thought throughout the entire process. She's very collaborative and worked well with the builder and all the subs and had a strong grasp of the construction process and time lines. When things inevitably came up with orders, time lines, things not looking exactly the way we wanted, she had solutions and kept our headaches to a minimum. Deb always ensured we were getting the best value and quality. I think she did as good a job as possible at keeping us close to our budget for a ground up build. We're also very happy with her suggestions on where to allocate our money. Deb has a great eye for design and her many projects show it. Her pricing is more than fair and her value showed time and time again. I'm positive in the long run we got more than we paid for with Deb and you can't ask for more than that. She's as good as it gets and we can't thank her enough.

Debra Shannon was terrific to work with. She began by having us collect photos of different design and architectural elements like house colors, garage doors, window trim, lights, and so on and put them in ideabooks in Houzz. That way she could get a sense of our taste and also share pictures with us of things she wanted us to consider. With a sure hand, she then began directing us away from some things and toward others, all the while gradually conjuring up a unified style. She would listen to our ideas and give her honest opinions and insightful suggestions. She not only displayed a terrific sense of color and good taste, but she clearly articulated the reasons behind her choices and preferences, so her guidance always made sense to us. Debra was also thoughtful about our budget and while she never skimped on quality, she helped us shop at places where we could save money whenever we could. In addition to it being a fun learning experience for me--I now know quite a lot about Craftsman houses and at one point had a dozen books on them checked out from the library--I am delighted with the results. I highly recommend Debra Shannon.
