About Us

Sofie B Design is a full service Interior Design Firm working with clients in Central Alberta as well as holiday homes further away. The firms portfolio includes custom built homes, large renovations and condominium developments as well as several commercial projects such as board rooms, offices, reception areas, spa and health centres. Client satisfaction is a priority to the firm and has earned Sofie B Design with the Best of Houzz Award 2014-2017. “The long lasting relationships with our clients are so important to us. We love returning to work on additional projects and properties with our clients.” Since getting her degree in Interior Design in 2007, Sofie Blunck has been working on projects in South Africa, Sweden, the U.K and Canada. Born in Sweden, Sofie now lives in Lacombe, Alberta with her husband and two daughters since 2009.

Sofie was amazing! I met with her for a design consultation. She listened to my needs and made excellent suggestions that addressed what I wanted to achieve (including the style/look I wanted). She was very thorough and organized and left me with some awesome notes and suggestions to help carry out my projects. She also stated that she is available (at a cost) if I need her services to help source trades, furniture, accessories, etc....which I might take her up on for some of my project. I would definitely recommend her services!

Sofie B Design has done multiple show suites for Tricon Developments at the Valley Crossing Condos in Blackfalds. All of the projects were completed on schedule & under budget. Working with Sofie has been a pleasure. She was quick to understood the concept of what we wanted and was able to give us her vision of how it would all come together. Decisions affecting the budget were always presented with several options. In the end, Sofie exceeded our expectations of how beautiful the space turned out. She worked with the basic bones of the condo and made it feel luxurious and high end. We love how it all turned out!

Sofie B Design took my average bedroom and turned it into a bedroom fit for a queen. She and her staff were absolutely professional, paid attention to every detail, listened to all my wants, and then produced them! We left on a trip and came back to perfection! Sofie went above and beyond my expectations!

We bought a house that was 20 years old and had most of the original finishings. Sofie helped us prioritize and make changes that had the most impact. She had great vision & advice for things I was concerned about like the brassy fireplace (keep it and embrace it) & the built in kitchen desk (rip it out). Sofie gave us great direction and the result is a house that Is uniquely ours!

Sophie went above and beyond!!! I was away for 3 weeks and sheanahed to finish the Reno while I was away! She told me she would but I never expected it would happen! You know how renos go!? But I came home to a wonderful new kitchen, master bath, living room, dining room, entry and den! She asked what I wanted, listened, sourced materials, ordered and took care of the trades! Amazing! My house is beautiful and I am so thankful for her skill and energy!

I had been plagued with indecision since moving from a house into a small condo 2 years ago. I found Sofie B Design via Houzz, and hired her, first for a consultation, and then for her services. She recognized my taste and style right away. Suggestions for what to purchase, what to keep, what to trash, floor plan, delivery, installation were all included. The designer's discounts for my sofa, carpet and drapery kept the projects well within my budget, and are great quality pieces. I enjoyed working with Sofie and I love the results.

After over 5 years of living in my house stuck on what to do, I hired Sofie to make my office & bedroom pretty. Sofie is thorough, really listens to what you envision, offers suggestions and then makes it happen. I absolutely LOVE my office now, it's bright, happy, and pretty. Our bedroom is the calming, pretty look I'd been searching for. So pleased with the results. Highly recommend Sofie! I've seen her commercial work as well and it's amazing.

I highly recommend Sofie B Design to design your space whether it be commercial or residential. They have done both type of design projects for me and the process and end result has always been outstanding. She works with you and your budget to get the look, feel and functionality you desire! I hired Sofie to help me add some style and design to the main floor in our home (living room, kitchen, and dining area). I must say it was pretty blah before Sofie came. I like a modern - contemporary style. She came to my house and understood what I wanted and what the space needed to look complete. Her choices of prints, accessories, and fabrics were awesome. She was on budget and completed the project on time, which was fantastic because the whole remake was a surprise to my husband! She totally remade the space into a fantastic living area that we now LOVE!!! I absolutely recommend Sofie B Design and I'm hoping to get her back to help with our master bedroom!!!

Sofie remodeled my entire condo including the Kitchen, Dining Room, Living Room and Master Bedroom. The results are amazing. She selected the furniture, accents and color palate. The dining table and chairs are breathtaking, the accents delightfully quirky, the colors perfect, and the highlighted wall paper make the rooms pop. I tend to a modern, contemporary style with strong lines, and Sofie captured that with her strong selection of accent pieces. Her use of lighting is surprising and clearly one of her strengths. Importantly, the work was done on time and on budget. I recommend her without hesitation or reservation.

Sofie came to my home to provide design advice on a renovation project. We were turning our attached garage into a master bedroom, ensuite and walk-in closet. She had some wonderful ideas. Tips to save money and advice on how to re-purpose some old furniture. I can't wait to have her back to help with colors!
