Steve Schappacher is the architect of the duo; a design genius who can see possibilities where the rest of us see run-down wrecks. A Library of Design SchappacherWhite is an architectural and interior design firm founded by Steve Schappacher and Rhea White. Their experience includes the diversity of realizing solutions for complex building projects, historic preservation, to detailed interiors and furnishings for commercial properties, as well as a number of single family homes and residential interiors. Often this work includes custom designed furniture, fixtures and lighting for the client's specific needs. Both their spatial solutions and product design have received the international recognition of awards, patents, exhibits and critical acknowledgements. This multidisciplinary expertise is applied seamlessly to all levels of a project to develop creative, cost effective solutions within financial and time constraints that respond genuinely to the particular requirements of each client and site. Working with SchappacherWhite Architecture was a great experience. From our very first meeting I knew we would be in highly capable hands. I couldn’t have asked for a better partnership throughout the entire process. During our renovation, we had the unfortunate situation where we needed to demolish and rebuild our home. Steve worked with us every step of the way. I couldn’t imagine working with another team during that challenging time. Steve immediately eased our concerns and worked seamlessly with our contractor to update our original plans and even improve upon them. There was a level of care and attention to detail that felt like we were their only clients! They truly work with you to understand your lifestyle and create a vision that not only meets that vision, but exceeds it. Sophisticated advice for a sleek, personalized outcome. What's more, in the spirit of supporting each other through the pandemic, Steve cut his usual fees. Amazing all around!

Steve and Rhea worked with us on our condo in Chicago and we are thrilled with the results. SchappacherWhite designed the remodel of our home in an enclave of mid century moderns originally built by legendary Alexander Construction Company in Palm Springs, California. Our neighborhood attracts many aficionados of that architectural style and is a top draw during the popular annual Modernism Week. The much needed restoration and transformation of the house was wonderful. It's so gratifying to see people stop to photograph our home. SchappacherWhite restored the house in a way that was true to the vision of the original architect while also fulfilling our desire to subtly blend a contemporary modernist style.

Schappacher White provided architectural and design scheme for our renovation and extension of our summer home on Shelter Island. They were able to create a beautiful contemporary home while maintaining the traditional feel of the existing home with creative use of space, windows and textures. We are thrilled with the outcome of the entire project. Steve Schappacher and Rhea White designed our loft in Manhattan. We feel so fortunate to have met both Steve and Rhea. Steve is an amazing architect, who has an uncanny ability to visualize and utilize space to its full advantage and beauty. While, Rhea is a fantastic interior designer with a great eye, an incredible sense of style, and an in depth understanding of architectural design. Together they make a fantastic team. Steve and Rhea bring so much to the table. They fluidly move between styles, and are as competent designing a modern Manhattan loft as a country cottage. Though, with any style they will incorporate the features of the surrounding area, maximize space, and enhance beauty. They are also conscientious when it comes to budget. During the design phase Steve and Rhea will consider the cost of construction. If your budget is exhaustive they can pull together exquisite finishes. If your budget is limited they easily find cost efficient materials or building techniques to give the appearance of top of line finishes. When we sold our loft in Manhattan it was to another architect who raved about the architecture and design choices. Our move took us to Northern California, and, as soon as we purchased a house we contacted Steve and Rhea. They are currently helping us design and decorate our new home.
