We did a lot of homework before deciding to build our home. It was a leap of faith to go with Sand Creek since we had never seen one of their buildings, but it was a good choice. We are happy with the end result and if we ever decide to do it again we'd go with Sand Creek.

Sand Creek Post and Beam have been fantastic to work with over the last two years. We have built 4 barns for their customers. Their service and willingness to work with both the customer and contractor is second to none. I am looking forward to many more barn projects with them.

Sand Creek provided a barn kit and instructions on erecting it. We built the barn ourselves. The process went relatively smoothly and we had the barn completed for about two years now. Sand Creek worked with us every step of the way to ensure it was completed and that nothing was missing. We are extremely pleased with the service provided and the results. The barn is absolutely beautiful and we get comments on it almost daily. Plus, the horses love it!

They designed the wood barn I wanted with my specific changes then shipped the barn from Nebraska to California. All is working out just as they said it would. Everything comes in the barn package and fit great especially considering all the bolt holes were predrilled.
I would buy from them again and definitiely reccomend them to anyone who want to buy a beautiful barn for whatever use,

Building a 48'x50' timber frame barn is a huge and scary undertaking for a homeowner, but Sand Creek Post and Beam takes great pains to make it a reachable goal. It starts with a well-organized barn kit and detailed construction manual with all the common problems addressed right up front, and continues with an excellent support network that gets you through the panic moments. Mine was a chunky and long project, punctuated by moments of panic, but Sand Creek was always very responsive and supportive, whether I called, emailed or texted. I now have an unbelievably gorgeous timber frame barn that leaves friends and family slack-jawed. My son has decided to use it for his wedding venue. It's that good.

If all Companies had the level of service, responsiveness, professionalism and caring that is embedded in Sand Creek Post and Beam's culture, life would be very good!
Our experience in designing and building a multi-use Barn in Montana was extraordinary. There were many challenges as we are located in a remote high elevation with extreme snow load requirements and logistical issues. The sales staff, construction engineers and project managers worked to find and execute solutions. They were extremely patient with my MANY questions and design changes. I consider all of them friends!
The product itself is gorgeous and sturdy. I think our whole town has been up to admire it and have said that if there were ever a disaster they would head to our barn for safety (:
I highly recommend this Company! In fact, one of our contractor's loved the product so much he plans to build one for himself in the future.

One of the easiest and most pleasurable home building experiences. Sand Creek Post & Beam provided top notch service from visiting previous customer's, through design, delivery, and guidance throughout the construction process.
We were so satisfied my wife & I are considering another SCP&B project in another part of the country. This project was run from Florida, communicating design information to Wayne NE, banking transfers between our sites & had the home shipped to Idaho for building, all with no probems. SCP&B knows the meaning of customer satisfaction, how else could they be in business as long as they have?

Member Comments:
Started planning a home in February 2012. Contacted Sand Creek to get ideas on what they do and who had their homes in our area. Was put in contact with their local salesperson. We were told that Sand Creek was a full service designer that could help us design a Post & Beam house and that they would help us through the entire project.
Now in full disclosure, we had not ever built a house of our own before and were very naive in the entire process and how it all would go together. It became a very big learning process, one that we would change now that we have gone through it.
We had to do the basic drawings of what we wanted and Sand Creek then would take it and design what they could. We found that Sand Creek at the time had a CAD Team who were the designers, and that they would cut and paste what they thought our ideas were. In retrospect, going back and forth through a sales person, a CAD person and others was very cumbersome. The CAD people seemed busy and were not the easiest to get our ideas across to. It would have been a better use of money and time to fly back to Nebraska and meet one on one to clear up all our ideas and their abilities. If your spending the money we did, it would have been better to be in Nebraska, not rural Oregon.
At one point, my wife said we should increase the width of the house and lower the roof pitch. Our Sales person told us that it would not be possible, since the CAD people would have to start over and would charge us a completely new design fee. That's when things started to go bad.
We found that the basic design plan from Sand Creek was a basic drawing that we could turn into our county home dept, and not much more. There was no digital 3D plan of the inside that we had been lead to believe and they also gave us no help on Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing. We also found that no Architect was employed at Sand Creek to review anything with us.
We had locked ourselves into this project with deposits, so it was a go ahead, no matter how bad things were being misrepresented. We did find a Great General Contractor and another company who had put up the Sand Creek Post and Beam buildings in the past. The 2 worked together really well and made the best of things.
Sand Creek sent us what they said were the Final plans, so we sent those to the contractors for bid confirmation. We later found that the Final plans had not been seen by the Sand Creek Engineer who changed things on the plans, especially the roof perlin spacing from 24" to 16". So when our Post and Beam contractor arrived to build, looked at the plans, and his first words were, "we may have a problem here, I did not budget the time for 16", that adds 30% more to the roof." So we started off with a higher cost and we had not even started. Sand Creek claimed ignorance.... "These were the Engineer approved Final Plans, everything before was just to look at..." they said.
So much for Engineered plans, they hardly passed the county codes. Once building began, our General contractor had to totally change the staircase, and if he built it the way of Sand Creek, the stairs would not have passed code. Some major revamping had to be done. Sand Creek also sent the wrong roofing material, and took 3 weeks in Winter to get us the correct boards.
When dealing with Sand Creek, once you get delivery from them, you are expected to make all payments, even if what they sent was not complete or wrong. So in my naivety I paid them and they pretty much dropped us. Our Sales rep told us that since we had problems with the material, some of which could be contributed to him, that Sand Creek was pulling him from the job and we had to deal with Nebraska only. We had one of our contractors contact Sand Creek for help in building and getting the correct materials, and he was told that Sand Creek would only deal with the purchaser(me) and that he had no say in anything. I am NOT a contractor, nor do I even know what to ask to get right for my contractor, so we felt totally hung out by Sand Creek.
The roofing insulation package came as an entire truckload of 4'X8', 10" thick sheets, with a one page instruction to guide us. It came with foil-tape to use to seal between the sheets. Problem is that the tape just blew off in the wind as soon as you tried to attached it. A worthless piece of junk. WE did our best with no guidance or help from Sand Creek.
Sand Creek delivered the project in October 2012, my last contact with them was about January2013. Thank goodness I had a great contractor who worked with us to get it built. I have never heard a thing from Sand Creek since then.
We lived in a 20' travel trailer from September 2012 to July 2013, almost a year. In July 2013, we got a Final from the county and moved in. We will probably never build another house, and especially NOT anything from Sand Creek.

Comment from Sand Creek Post & Beam:
We want to thank this customer for his comments. Over the years we have gotten some wonderful testimonials from customers who love their barns and barn homes. We don’t often receive honest negative feedback, and we appreciate the opportunity to address it.
Sand Creek Post & Beam is the leading manufacturer of custom designed traditional wood barn kits. Over the last ten years we have had the pleasure of providing stunning barns and barn homes to nearly 1,000 satisfied customers across the United States and Canada. Because all our barns are custom designed for each customer, you will find no two alike.
Once a customer purchases a Sand Creek Post & Beam barn kit, a project manager is assigned to guide the customer through the design, engineering, production and delivery process. Our sales people are not part of that process; and while they often form warm relationships with our customers, we have experts in the area of project management to facilitate each customer’s project after the sale is made.
Our design team uses specialized state-of-the-art timber framing software, Cadwork, to design each barn or barn home (it does not have a “cut and paste” feature). Beginning with a simple sketch of boxes on a sheet of paper, we can design even the most elaborate barn or barn home. We do multiple revisions for each customer, if necessary, the cost of which is included in the cost of the kit. Additional design fees are never charged unless the number of design hours has been extensive and then the customer decides to completely change the design requiring the entire structure to be redrawn.
Sand Creek Post & Beam’s plans are building plans for the custom designed barn and barn home structures purchased from Sand Creek; we usually draw the specific foundation the customer will be using and their interior floor plans simply as a courtesy to them. Each draft of plans clearly states the following: 1. Floor layout drawings are not designed by an architect. Additional professional services may be required to comply with local codes and regulations. 2. Sand Creek Post & Beam is not responsible for designing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC plans. 3. Interior partition walls, windows, doors, and fixtures are provided by customer or general contractor. 4. Daylight opening, vent opening, and egress requirements are the responsibility of the customer/general contractor. 5. Door and window locations are approximate only. Exact location to be determined by the customer and general contractor. Only after the customer is satisfied with their final plans are they sent to our structural engineer for review, and only if the customer indicates they want an engineer’s stamp. (In some agricultural areas one is not required.) This protects the customer from incurring unnecessary or multiple engineering fees after each revision. The plans are engineered for each customer’s exact county and local building codes, and any required changes are incorporated into the customer’s plans.
After plans are completed, materials for the customer’s project are ordered. In our production facility, all millwork is hand-crafted; the frame is cut and assembled to ensure a tight fit, then disassembled, labeled and packaged. Millwork, the disassembled frame, additional materials for siding and roof sheathing and insulation are all then delivered to the barn site for erection. The delivery of the barn kit is the final step in the Sand Creek Post & Beam process. We are available any time during and after the erection of the barn/barn home kit to answer questions and address any issues the customer or their builder may have. It is important the customer use a contractor or builder familiar with timber frame/post and beam construction, and we are happy to recommend some who have erected our barn kits in the past. It is also important the contractor or builder read the construction guide provided with each kit. Because of the flexibility of post and beam construction, some changes to the structure can be made on site by the builder that may require more materials. We do require authorization from the customer for any materials their builder may order.
Sand Creek Post & Beam is focused on continually improving our products and customer experience, and customer feedback is extremely important to us. Based on this customer’s experience, it is obvious we did not do a good job making sure he understood who we were, what we did, what he had purchased and how our process worked. We are truly sorry the design and purchase of his barn home kit was confusing and unpleasant. However, we really need to thank him for this post which serves as great feedback as we strive to make sure our web site, catalogs, sales staff and project managers all do a better job for each and every customer.
We also appreciate the feedback regarding the insulation package which was shipped directly from our insulation vendor. Because of feedback like his as well as other customers, we no longer use that vendor and we believe we now offer a superior insulation product.
Finally, all companies make mistakes. Sand Creek Post & Beam initially shipped this customer T&G boards instead of the shiplap he ordered as part of an automatic upgrade we made to our roofing material (at no extra charge). When the customer informed us he preferred the ship lap it did take an additional three weeks to get the appropriate materials to him since all materials are custom ordered for each project. In our efforts to improve our products, we were replacing one type of board to another for our barn homes, and we assumed our customer would want the upgrade. No one likes to make a mistake but we were wrong in assuming what we did, and we sincerely apologize for that.
We also apologize for the length of this post; however, we felt each of our customer’s issues were important and deserved to be addressed. We are hopeful that this customer is now enjoying his Sand Creek Post & Beam barn home and we would love to see a photo or two of his end result.

We bought and constructed a Sand Creek barn and could not be happier. The dealer and the company were superb to deal with - very responsive and helpful. Everything came as advertised and whenever we had an issue with the construction, the company was there to help. We would highly recommend Sand Creek Post & Beam.
