Karl and his crew at Modern Earth Landscaping are very professional, polite, and punctual. Every day they arrived early, worked hard, and were very efficient. At the end of the day, they cleaned up and left our place as tidy as possible while under construction. It was evident that Karl had extensive knowledge and expertise; in addition, he had immense pride in his work. When discussing various aspects of the job, he would listen to what we were looking for and make suggestions. As well, he always communicated clearly the construction requirements. Therefore, we could make informed decisions resulting in aesthetically pleasing work with solid construction. We appreciated all of his advice during the construction process. We are very particular, yet Karl exceeded our expectations in creating a beautifully finished yard. We highly recommend Karl and Modern Earth Landscaping. Our backyard project consisted of: ●a new main retaining wall ●a new lower garden retaining wall ●replacement of an upper rose garden wall ●two patios (one with a fire pit and one for the hot tub) ●grading correction & new sod ●a walkway from the man door (alongside the garage & fence) to the driveway in the front

Karl & I clicked right away. I told him what I had in mind for a perennial rock garden & he came up with a plan with a few of his own suggestions about trees. I love the whole thing but especially the dry stream bed with bridge & the patio. He & his friendly workers were very careful bringing in all the stone through the neighbours’ undeveloped property and completed the project on time, just before the fencing was installed.

I was very impressed with this company!! They came to my house and did a one on one consultation with me and within days, i received a 3D rendering of my proposed project. It was so nice to see my project in 3D to help me picture how it would look like. They were extremely helpful and understanding with my budget needs and did their best to accommodate me. I would recommend them to everybody!

We are absolutely thrilled with the landscaping work that Modern Earth did for us. After explaining what we wanted, Karl produced a design that nailed it: modern, minimalist, and a very inviting and usable rear patio area. When Karl and his crew were doing the work, if there was any uncertainty or anything unexpected came up, Karl discussed it with us right away - there were no surprises or assumptions made. They were also on time and reliable throughout; when Karl commits to something you can rely on it, which sets him apart from many other contractors. They were very professional, even to the point where several of our neighbours commented about how respectful and considerate they were, keeping the street and sidewalks clean, keeping their equipment out of the way, etc. When the work was finished, we were thrilled with the final product and have a yard we love. Beautiful job of retaining wall, provided valuable info. on drainage, design etc. which we did not have prior. Communications throughout project were ongoing and clear. Crew members were professional, quality of work is superb and completed on time - couldn't have been better!

We decided to enhance our residential property by maximizing the front and back garden spaces while minimizing the amount of maintenance required. Karl did excellent design work to illustrate the potential for using the plot's footprint most effectively in a manner that would give us a good variety and blend of seasonal colours throughout the year. The flat design fee was reasonable and covered all the adjustments we were exploring while deciding the best option for our taste and budget. His expertise allowed him to offer really good options for our space. The work itself was carried out very professionally by Karl and his team. They were quite attentive to detail and took the time to do the job properly. When several unexpected challenges were encountered, Karl immediately consulted with us, outlined the issue, and offered several options for dealing with it - without exerting undue pressure on us to just choose the most expensive one. His sensitivity to the overall budget was appreciated, even though we ended up making choices that exceeded our initial estimate. (Unexpected weather challenges also caused some delays but that was beyond their control and it was not too terrible.) It's too early to see the final product yet, as plants are just taking root and it will be a little while before all the colourful blooms are evident - and it may take a couple years for some shrubs to blossom fully but we are confident in the work they did and look forward to enjoying it for years to come.

Amazing work! We are so happy with our yard. We were given expert advise on what would do well in different parts of our yard according to shade, sun and our climate. Prior to the work being done the visual diagrams were crucial to us to see what the landscaping would look like and WOW when the work was completed it was exactly like the diagrams. The crew were polite, courteous and did fantastic work. We would highly recommend Modern Earth.
