We had an architect help us re-layout our 70 y/o wood-framed house. Nothing had ever been improved, original electrical and plumbing, leftovers of original heating system and septic tanks were uncovered. After our design was finalized – MCH helped create a vaulted interior ceiling in two rooms, creating well-disguised ceiling beams. Visitors as well as occupants are impressed and pleased. MCH came up with creative solutions to problems which arose, such as a weak sagging subfloor, termite damage, and that lack of shear wall strength after removing siding. MCH demonstrated good general knowledge of various segments of the remodeling / building industry (plumbing, tile work, roofing, framing, electrical, and structural) and used sub-contractors which were readily available to assist in all needed tasks. When not available, his team did the work themselves. Would we recommend MCH? Yes, the results and his responsiveness to our wishes were worth it.

Due to previous quality work that Walter Mills had done for us, we hired him to do a major remodel of our kitchen. Upon directing us to various places to pick out cabinets, sink/fixtures, lighting, wall tiles & flooring, we made those decisions quickly & within a couple of weeks he began work. During the entire process he had a temporary sink hooked up for us & we had partial use of our stove & continued use of our refrigerators. Being an old house, he anticipated critical & required updates of building codes where applicable, made some structural repairs where needed & was on top of other issues that came up, keeping us informed of the progress all along the way. He organized & managed all the (quality) subcontractors, with whom he has good working relationships. At critical junctures where aesthetic decisions needed to be made, he consistently had a good eye & instinct for what would both work & look best; we trusted him throughout the process. His work was top-grade quality & craftsmanship, with full attention to details. We loved the finished kitchen (& still do every time we walk into it) & brought him back immediately to do a full remodel of one of our bathrooms, with which we were equally pleased.
