About Us

Marci Goulart is a Chico native. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from CSU Chico in 1989. Combining over three decades of professional design experience, and grounded upon her formal educational training, Goulart has built a large and loyal following. Specializing in new, custom home projects, major remodeling consultation and management, space planning, kitchen, bath, lighting plans, and blueprint review, Goulart is also skilled at imparting sound guidance for projects to renew, revitalize, rejuvenate and restore existing construction. She has a keen interest in historic preservation. She and her husband live in a unique Chico craftsman/prairie style home built in 1920 that they restored with the dedication and attention that she puts into all of her projects, personal and professional. This is the second vintage home restoration they have completed together in Chico. Goulart has a likeable, intuitive and warm personality. Her clients have become friends and repeat, referring customers. She brings to each new challenge a friendly, collaborative way of working together with her clients. In addition to coordinating well with architects, contractors, tradesmen and vendors, she aims for a hassle-free, results-oriented experience. Continuing education and giving back to her home community resonate deeply with Goulart. She is an Allied Member of American Society of Interior Designers. She was appointed by the city council in 2005 to serve on the City of Chico’s Architectural Review & Historic Preservation Board. The board reviews building and site plans for new commercial projects being proposed in the City of Chico. She served three 4-year terms.

I have been working with Marci for 9 years and I have become very good friends . We work so well together and I just love all her designs . I also like that she never does any design twice . Every design is very unique and the way she uses color is fantastic! I also know that working with her on jobs, I never have to worry because she is so detailed-oriented that nothing slips through the cracks .

Marci exceeded our expectations! Marci arranged our entire kitchen remodel. She created new spaces within our kitchen that enhanced the entire project. Marci selected tile, stone, paint, fixtures and furniture that we absolutely love and also kept the style of our 1918 craftsman style house. She also arranged all of the sub contractors and provided the details that needed to be completed on a timeline. The entire project was finished faster than we expected. We really appreciate Marci and her technical understanding, professionalism and skills of all aspects (building, electrical, tile, wood work, paint and many more!). We are very grateful to have Marci and we are looking forward to our next project.

Marci is amazing!!!!! She has an incredible eye for design ideas from the beginning of the project until completion. After the campfire in 2018, Marci was instrumental in helping us with the rebuilding of our home. When building a new home from the ground up, there are a lot of decisions to be made. Marci was there to help us and show us all of our options. From stucco and paint colors , to all the fine details like countertops and cabinet handles. We just love every detail she helped us add and could not be happier. Without Marci we wouldn’t have ended up with our amazing dream home.

Marci is a talented designer and an amazing working partner and listener. We purchased a beautiful home in 2019 that needed updating, remodeling, and touches that would make it our own. It turned into quite a project! We reconnected with Marci because we had worked with her before and loved her ideas and follow through. She is professional and warm at the same time. I know what I like, but definitely don't know where or how to pull it together. No worries, that's why working with Marci is essential and thoroughly satisfying. It's not easy, we both worked hard to create a home that is not only lovely but I feel totally reflects me. It's not cookie cutter. It's my vision with her guidance and expertise. She's a genius at knowing when to make clear suggestions and when to empower me to move ahead on my own. Marci is flexible and I'm sure every project she works on is unique and special. I had never met Marci before my kitchen remodel, I gave her a call because of all her great reviews I had read about her. I am glad I did! Marci is so easy to work with, she listened to all of my likes and dislikes. She was "point on" with her suggestions in helping pick out countertops, tile ,lighting, all my fixtures, window coverings and wall paint, Marci is so professional and organized with the workers and would catch things that I did not notice. I Love my new kitchen it came out beautiful and I definitely would work with and recommend Marci again.

I loved working with Marci and highly recommend her to anyone looking for an interior designer who brings creativity but designs something that fits you and your style. Over the years we moved twice into newly built homes. Interior Designer, Marci Goulart, has been a big help both times. Marci advised us with many major design decisions which are typically a headache for the non-professional--new house decisions, space planning, window coverings, wall colors, furnishings and furniture placement. With her advise, we avoided costly design mistakes. We relied on Marci for window coverings at both homes. Twice now, we’ve picked Hunter Douglas wood shutters. We couldn’t be happier with our choices. Marci know the products well and she even made suggestions that take the window coverings to the next level. Marci’s taste, attention to details and listening skills make it easy to work with her. She is a talented professional with a great personality. We highly recommend Marci for new home design, project consultation, decor advise and quality window coverings.

Marci was amazing. As a result of the Camp Fire we were dealing with the loss of everything - our home, personal property, and our mental capacity. In January 2019 we realized that we needed help with direction and making decisions. Due to Marci's education in home/interior design and decoration combined with 30 years of experience she was the reason we successfully navigated updating and decorating our new to us house. She gently guided us in making choices that matched our chosen theme and starting color in selecting flooring, tile, and countertops, furniture size and material, faucets, lamps, ceiling lights, fans, bedding material, color, and patterns, paint colors inside and out, and lastly window coverings to pull the whole thing together. She listened closely to what we wanted and with her help by first showing us limited choices we were able to make decisions. Her access to upholstery material, bedding sets, and window covering alternatives beyond the usual brick and mortar stores enabled us to make our house our home! Thanks Marci!

A friend had recommended Marci after an extensive remodel was done at their home. I met with Marci and she developed a plan for my remodel. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional and organized. She was always available for me and the contractors, and kept a timeline for me. She listened to what I wanted and we really worked together so she had an understanding of my expectations, while giving me some new ideas. She brought design issues to my attention that I had never thought about. The result....an incredible new space for my home.

While we thought she would be helpful in the decorating arena we had no idea that she would be an invaluable liaison between the general contractor and several of the subcontractors. Marci has helped me on numerous occasions as my husband and I decided to do many small projects around our house after 20 years. I had chosen paint colors myself and was never happy with my choices. Marci turned this unpleasant and ultimately unsatisfying task into a positive experience.
