About Us

Specializing in contemporary, coastal and ranch homes. Luxury Ranch offers interior design and project management for homes and businesses. Newly relocated in Monarch Beach, CA Marlene started her professional career as a graphic designer and expanded her education into illustration, culminating in a BFA from the world renowned Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. After continued studies in Interior Design she established her Studio in 1985. Marlene and her husband are parents of 2 grown children and relocated to Monarch Beach, CA in 2020. Marlene is an avid equestrian, performing professionally with The Rainbow Riders Mounted Drill Team until their retirement in 2014. She now enjoys her cow horse Teddy and Australian Shepherd Rodeo.

Marlene Holmquist was a wonderful guide and resource when we furnished the interior of our newly built custom home. She truly listened to us and helped us to achieve the perfect blend of beauty and function that fit our family and that we still love! Marlene is extremely creative, technically knowledgeable and skilled. She and her team were organized and kept things on track and on schedule, communicating well with us and all the vendors and installers. We only wish we had known her sooner in order to utilized her talents in assisting with the design of our home before construction. We definitely plan to employ Marlene for our future design projects and highly recommend her to anyone!

My name is Scott Vickery and I sell appliances and bathroom fixtures at Kiva Kitchen & Bath in San Diego. I have known and worked with Marlene Holmquist on multiple projects over the last 10 to 15 years. She is, as I like to say, "a designer who gets it." She understands the building process and knows how things work together. I have always been impressed with her eye to detail and her design sensibilities, whether it be a modern/contemporary, traditional, or a country/ranch style.
