When her design was complete she found us competent contractors to install her design, and she met with the contractor several times to be sure the design intent was understood and installed correctly. My husband and I had Louise design our garden space at our house in which we've lived for 20 years. At one point I asked Louise “Do you really think that this will make that much of a difference?” To which she said “ABSOLUTELY!” Was she ever right! While we wish we had invested in this yard 20 years ago, we look forward to the next 20 years. It is such a pleasure to look out the kitchen window and see new plants and trees budding out, birds and bees buzzing by and to sit and have coffee in the morning sun. The landscape design is beautiful, sophisticated, modern and clean. She did an amazing job designing steps going up the hillside to our patio. She was the perfect advocate for us during the construction phase and tended to be a great mediator when disputes arose around design choices between my husband and myself. I would resoundingly recommend Louise Leff for any landscape design project.

My husband and I decided it was time to get some professional help transforming our outdoor areas into a more livable space. We wanted to replace a tired lawn and too much concrete with a landscape that required less water and included native plants, a new stone patio, and a Petanque terrain. Luckily we found Louise Leff Landscape Assoc. to make it all happen and couldn’t be happier with the results. Louise is great! We tried to develop a plan for our acre-plus residential project with at least a half dozen landscapers over quite a few years, and it wasn't until we started working with Louise that we actually got it done. She has the ability to listen and work with you, as well as bring incredibly good ideas and a wealth of information and design talent. Our project was a complete redesign of our backyard after removal of a pool, spa, and large deck. We wanted a space with low water needs and a natural habitat for birds, butterflies, and bees, but which also had ample space for gardening, wandering, and relaxing. As this was a fairly small, flat, rectangular area, it was a challenge to include all of these things in the design. We were impressed at Louise's ability to focus in on our priorities and to design and create a space which not only included all of them, but was beautiful besides! She incorporated our ideas about plants, hardscape, etc., and brought in many of her own which complemented and enhanced our vision. We now have a lovely outdoor space with meandering pathways, 3 patios, mostly native plantings, raised vegetable boxes, an herb garden, and even kiwi vines. It is a joy to look at and to spend time in, and fairly easy maintenance also. Our yard was chosen for the 2013 MMWD Marin-Friendly Garden Tour. In summary, we were very happy with both the design and construction that we received from Leff Landscape Associates and recommend them highly.

I wrote a review a couple of years ago to praise Louise for her work on our Pasadena property. I'm updating today to say we hired her again to do both the front and back of our new home in Petaluma, and I couldn't be happier! Louise is very sensitive to my style AND can take my ideas 10 steps further with her knowledge and design sense. Our backyard in particular is now a treasured part of the house and a joy to spend time in...as well as being the envy of all our friends! I highly, highly recommend Leff Landscape Associates.

We had a 6 foot retaining wall starting to give way, as well as a 4 foot wall running along a portion of our property boundary. The yard was starting to move a little when it rained so there was a lot of stress involved in the project. Louise came up with an amazing design to terrace the property with a series of smaller walls resulting in the back yard becoming entirely utilizable. The wall design had a complex array of curves and angles, some symmetry and some not symmetric, giving the whole yard a more rustic feeling, which was exactly what we were after. The budget was tight, but the project got held up by the city, so we were able to save more and get the whole project done. Louise was so patient with our continual scope creep as we progressed through the project and kept adding more to it as we saved. She came up with many great ideas for how to get the most for the available budget. Her team that came and did the work were very professional and knowledgeable about what they were doing. 2 years on and the yard is looking fantastic. We love being out in it.
