The Lehmann Design Group is a small Triangle based landscape architectural and project management firm owned by Michael R. Lehmann. He is a registered landscape architect in the State of North Carolina (#1683). Mike is a graduate of Michigan State University (1975) with a bachelor of landscape architecture degree (BLA), and has been practicing his craft every since. Craft beers, artisanal bread, farmer’s markets, personal trainers, specialty stores of all kinds, that one of a kind local restaurant… many of us seek out the special, the personal touch when we can. Your landscape needs are equally unique. I am Mike Lehmann, landscape architect and owner of the Lehmann Design Group. I have been producing artisanal, hand drawn custom residential landscape masterplans tailored to the unique and special needs of my clients for 40 years. I can do the same for you. As a design professional, I work specifically for you — your home, your needs, wants and desires, your family, your budget. My job is to put it all together so it all works, before you call the contractors, the nursery people and the suppliers.

Mike did an excellent job. He turned our messy front, which turned into a lake when it rained, into an well-designed gravel parking area surrounded but garden islands. It is lovely and has never flooded since.Read Full Review

Exceptional attention to design and design detail issues. Thoroughly knowledgeable about most plant types including many I've never heard of. Easy to work with and the results were outstanding.

Our experience with Michael was outstanding. He designed full landscape plan for 3.5 acres. We have followed 90 percent of his suggestions, and had very few plants die. His attention to detail on our plan was incredible. I would recommend him to anyone with a big landscape job, or just a small backyard.

Michael would always want to meet late afternoon, I prefer morning. We ended up compromising with about 3pm. Michael showed up unprepared for meetings, did not make changes as I asked. After our last meeting I asked him if he should take notes and he said no, he would remember. When I got updated drawings they did not reflect all the changes. I felt that every change I asked for was argued on by Michael wanting to why I would want that. I want what I want and I'm the client. Timelines were broken over and over. He wanted to meet to refresh were we were because it had been so long since our last meeting. Michael needs to pick either his cattery or landscape design. He pointed out that we had a dog so we should understand when he needs to attend to the cat/kittens. NO I can see maybe once but not several times? I fired him. WORK NOT COMPLETED

Mike clearly knows his business. He has great depth of knowledge regarding landscape design, particularly how flowers, shrubs and trees can be placed to optimize their appearance and blend in with the existing landscape. He developed a very detailed plan for our new house that included not only plants, but also drainage pipes, a patio, fire pit and a gazebo. His drawing were very professional looking and done in such a way so as to be easy to understand. The only minor concern was that he was very busy and that interfered with keeping due dates.

We had Lehmann Group do our landscape architecture and we so pleased with the results. Michael was professional, responsive, prompt, and did not break the bank. Everything you would want in a professional that you would hire.

You cannot get a more knowledgeable and professional landscape architect in the county. The design, plant selection and thoughtfulness were quite evident in the final plan. Michael also helped with the selection of the Landscape contractor and included elements such as irrigation, lighting, and a comprehensive plant list. What I especially liked was the up-front information he provided on what we (the inexperienced homeowners) would expect during the entire project. It was refreshing to work with someone who we could rely on to provide a great service.
