We connected with Heather Krause and the Kennebec Company in 1999 at a Home Show. Shortly thereafter, we went up to Maine to visit with the team of designers and began a very thorough and well-directed process of ordering a new kitchen for our 1845 farmhouse. Kennebec was along side during the building process. We love our beautiful Kennebec kitchen. It so suits the New England vernacular, and is practical. The space is really well optimized. Jump ahead twenty years later, and we now have to purchase a new refrigerator. Down comes Heather and James from Main to Massachusetts to help us make the best choice for the space. The styles of refrigerators has since changed, yet the Kennebec team was right there to help. What kind of service do you get like that in this day and age? Incredibly impressive. Kennebec has been responsive and timely through the past twenty years, the products are beautifully crafted, and we have time-tested this team - they stand by their word and their services. You won’t be disappointed. This group is first class. Zero regrets.

I used Kennebec Company for a full custom kitchen project in Portland, Maine. The process was seamless: I met with Jeff Peavey (the former owner and a lead designer) to lay out the kitchen and pick key design elements. This was a fun and efficient process and it was rewarding to work with someone with so much experience. We were able to substantially increase the functionality of the kitchen, going from one working space to four (even though the space was tight) and adding 3-4 fun new aspects to the design. This included putting a bar in a space only about 10 inches deep (see photos on Kennebec website). The installation process was also flawless; there were no errors and the installer was fast, accurate and did very high quality work. The new kitchen is now a highlight of a very classic historic home. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kennebec company for a full custom kitchen!

I have a good imagination, but Heather and the Kennebec Co. designed and built a kitchen that surpassed our wildest dreams. We could not be happier with our kitchen (and mud room:)!

Kennebec designed, built and installed quarter sawn oak kitchen, pantry and fireplace nook cabinets, fir laundry room, cherry library and white wood bathroom vanities in my new Arts an Crafts home. Their work was the highlight of my project. I visited ME to see first hand the construction of my cabinets and it was well worth the journey. From design to the selection of fine wood to building and installation the work done by Kennebec was outstanding. They have returned to my home to add additional drawer dividers and roll outs. They are true artists. Literally, everything is perfect. Without exception when quests visit, it is the beautiful cabinetry they comment on. They worked very well with the other members of the construction team and always on time.

As a contractor in southern Maine, I have worked with the Kennebec Company in over a dozen projects and they have consistently proven to be exceptional. We bought an older post and beam house and it needed a lot of renovating. We really wanted to keep it as traditional as we could without losing any of the newer conveniences. All of the research we did pointed us to The Kennebec Company. We visited 2-3 kitchen companies prior to visiting with James, Wendy, and Jeff at the Kennebec Company. They were Great! We instantly knew once we met with them that this was who we wanted to work with. From initial talks, to their site visit, everything went incredibly well and their service was great. Fortunately we were local enough that we were able to visit their factory and James and his team were able to walk us through and show us the cabinet making process and why they do what they do. They were also very helpful in finding great options for our counter tops, and flooring that stayed consistent with the house. We have had our new kitchen for just about 2 years and love it. Whenever we have had a question or needed help they have always picked up the phone and solved our problems. We are lucky to have found them and been a customer of theirs. Truly a company that was great to work with.

We were so glad to have chosen The Kennebec Company for our cabinetmakers when we renovated our kitchen. Besides superb workmanship, they were delightful to work with- from the sales office to the cabinetmakers. They were able to help with design and had great ideas on how to best use the space. Having taken down a full walk-in pantry, I was worried that we would not have enough storage room, but the way the Kennebec Company designed and built the cabinets, I have more than enough.
