She was very professional, personable and really cared about helping me with all of my design needs (room layouts, furniture solutions, window treatments, paint colours, wall décor, etc). We had a great time working with Karin and Amanda on our basement renovation. They listened to what we wanted for the space and then ran with it! They were able to find a style that was fresh, clean and cohesive. In a bland basement, they helped us create an entertainment area with a snack station and eating/games table, as well as a mudroom to our garage and they redesigned our basement bathroom to be the best looking room of the house. Despite some structural challenges and delays we experienced along the way with our home, they went with the flow and made sure our space was both functional and stylish. I recently had the best experience with Karin Bennett designs on a virtual design of my family room. The process to send her information to work with was quick and easy. I was shocked to receive my design on Christmas Eve, and it was perfect. Exactly what my husband and I had wanted but didn’t know how to create flow or where to find anything. The design came clearly laid out and with links to every piece we would be adding or building In The room. Karin was the designer assigned to us when we were chosen to renovate our main floor for an episode of Property Brothers, Forever Home. It was a large project, we took down a structural wall, bricked over a window, added a larger window, added a brand new kitchen, new flooring, and new built-ins. Plus all new furniture, artwork, and final touches. On top of it all, it was completed in a short period of time. We were not involved in the specifics of the design, basically didn’t see anything until the big reveal, so we had to put an enormous amount of trust into our designer. But the moment we met Karin, our minds were put at ease. She listened, clarified and helped us verbalize our vision for the house in terms of both functionality and style. She provided us with a well thought out design plan, which evolved as we continued along the process. You could tell she really cared about our family and how to make the space work best for us. And the result of her hard work and thought was a design beyond anything we thought could even be accomplished in our space and we love it! She used our budget in the best possible way, knowing which items were worth spending more money on. She was quick to answer any questions and was always polite and friendly. She was able to successfully marry our family’s needs with a beautiful design. Weeks later, we still sit and admire different views of our space. We hired Karin to lead a multi-room renovation this summer. The project scope included flooring, two storey staircase, framing, drywall, ceilings, doors, trim, third party cabinets, painting, art framing / hanging, window coverings, furniture, rugs, accessories, and electric. We were very happy with Karin and will work with her again in the future: - Karin provided high quality advice and recommendations for master contractors, and she worked very effectively with the construction firm we chose. She was equally effective in navigating decisions with built in / custom cabinets with a second firm. - We wanted Karin to take the lead on nearly all design and furnishing decisions while still feeling like we were part of the process, and she walked this line very well. The final result felt exactly right for us, but we never would have made the right decisions to get there ourselves. - Having Karin narrow dozens of important design alternatives to the best two or three options saved us months of time and thousands of dollars. - Karin entirely handled all commercial aspects of sourcing where we wanted, and happily accommodated the couple times we were able to find more competitive pricing (flooring / door hardware). - Karin comes prepared to every meeting with story boards, samples and ideas, making effective use of time. Her background experience means it takes less of her time to answer questions than it would with a junior designer. She has a terrific, energetic personality, making it a pleasure to sit down and work together. - Karin focused on the end point, integrating 'must haves' while being willing to speak up when we were making a wrong decision. Karin is clearly very talented and a great designer. We sought her help after seeing her work on our friends house. Partially due to mis-expectations on our part, and a bit of tardiness and sloppiness on her part, we were slightly disappointed. We paid for a in-house consultation, where Karin showed up late (her partner was on time, but we re-visited our discussion once Karin showed up). We were surprised that the time wasn't made up on the back end, and we never did get to colour swatches and fabric suggestions. For us this was key to what we were hoping to get from the outcome. On a positive note, we did get support for many of the suggestions we came forward with, giving us the push we needed to proceed. Karin chose gorgeous colours for our home (though I would have liked to see and discuss them in person), she and her partner gave us two unbelievable great suggestions for both bed placement and wall addition that we would never have come up with on our own, and the service was really friendly. Lastly, she copy and pasted a copy of her notes, which were not spell-checked. This may be overly picky, but it left us feeling like she didn't value our business enough to review what she wrote before sending it. This was probably the greatest disappointment, and it would have been easily avoided. For full-service, like our friends went for, they spoke very highly of her.

Karin designed our house and chose tiles, fabrics, furnishings, etc. We could not be more pleased with the results. She was able to balance simplicity, style, and practicality so the designs will withstand the ware of an active family. Karin is especially great to work with if you are open to suggestions and not as detail oriented-- it is a space that she can naturally fill with her great taste and imagination.

I reached out to Karin to help with furniture placement throughout my home. She had great ideas and was able to explain to me the reasons for the changes. Her knowledge and expertise were helpful but her easy going manner and ability to relay her ideas without offending me was much appreciated.
