I heard about Kamiya on the How Stuff Works podcast and was intrigued by the glass on teak, so I checked out their website and ended up ordering a small glass on teak. They handled my order very professionally, sending me photos of my choices for the size I ordered and then shipping my selection very quickly. I am very happy with my glass on teak vase and will definitely come by the store if I'm ever in North Carolina. Thank you very much!

I recently purchased a unique teak root console for my entryway from Kamiya. The piece is absolutely exquisite, and is the most lovely piece of furniture in my home. It is truly a piece of art on its own. Kamiya's pieces are all beautifully hand crafted, and one-of-a-kind items that I've never seen anywhere else. Above all, the service and attention is second to none. The owners, Jeremy and Irene, are able to narrate the history behind each piece, giving it that much more meaning, while discussing the technical details of the craftsmanship as well. We had seen a colorful Balinese teak boat wood table in another state but the shipping charges were prohibitive. We were looking for a similar table locally. At Kamiya Furniture, we found that it was actually less expensive for Jeremy buy us a custom table in Bali. Jeremy saw our photos and discussed our needs, then looked for a table on his trip to Bali. He emailed photos and worked with us until he found the table that was perfect for us. Since this process necessarily took a few months, he provided a beautiful loaner table while we waited. Our table is a one-of-a-kind work of art and a conversation piece. The size, style, and colors are perfect, and he matched the wood tone of our chairs.

I discovered Kamiya on Houzz while searching for an artistic occasional table for my new downtown loft apartment. I visited the online store and was thrilled to learn the physical store is located right here in Durham, NC. Yesterday, I dropped by and the furniture is even more beautiful in person. What an amazing shop! I fell in love with the glass bowls melted over teak root, the polished teak wood bowls, and the wood hand sculptures that can sit upright on a dresser or be screwed into a wall to hold scarves/jewelry. Jeremy, one of the owners, was arranging new merchandise and was authenticly helpful without being pushy. The prices also seem reasonable to me.
