Jim is an excellent architect with a great eye and he works very well with people. He is especially effective at guiding a project through permitting - an important asset in Santa Barbara County. In our complete remodel of a home with an awkward combination of sloped and flat roofed portions, Jim added the element that tied the building together making it graceful and unified. Worked with James on our completely remodeled home in Santa Ynez, James was not only very professional but his years of experience came through from his many different styles of homes from beach to country. I would highly recommend and use him again as well

We hired 3 architects to come up with a concept for our remodel. All three were similar and good, but nothing that exciting. A contractor introduced us to James Macari and the next day we received a fax with a hand done drawing that inspired us! We knew right then, this is our guy. His idea for our new home hit us right in the heart. He has been great to work with, has amazing experience and is both philosophical and inspirational. His vision from the inside out and outside in is so well understood, it is sometimes hard to conceive, yet so clear when explained. We couldn't recommend anyone better to work with. B & C Wolf

Commented: What material did you use for the countertops and where did you buy?Hi, it is called 'Verde Fantastic' and it is Quartzite. Got it in S.Cal.

Commented: What material was used for the raised hearth. Is it a granite or stoneIt was inferred that it was a 'soap stone' under the Marble flag.
