About Us

J&L Home Center is a Custom Home & Custom Cabinet Builder based out of Washington, Indiana. Founded in 1976 by John, his late brother Leroy, their late father Noah, John's son Jason and Jordan are now partners in the business making J&L a 3rd generation company. J&L focuses on new home construction and upper end custom cabinetry-- Utilizing KCDw software, they can offer complete kitchen and bath designs including very realistic 3-D color pictures of your new room. Unique in the fact that they employ their own electricians and plumbers, J&L can offer the best remodeling experience. They are your one stop shop for designing, estimating, construction, plumbing, electrical and trim carpentry. J&L has 20 employees, which means that they are large enough to have drywall finishers, painters, and HVAC subcontractor at their disposal, making scheduling much easier and shortening the duration of your project-- not to mention removing the headache of you having to schedule 5-6 different contractors. J&L also has a large showroom located on Highway 50 just one and a half miles east of I-69. They have exterior maintenance free furniture for your patio, storage sheds, gazebos, dining room sets and much more. Come see us! J&L Home Center helped me design and then built a custom solid cherry bedroom set. The craftsmanship was beautiful and I’ve been asked where I ever purchased something so beautiful. The professionalism is always apparent- the job came in at the price quoted and on time. I’ve since asked them to do smaller projects and again, excellent work all around. These are professionals who are patient with questions and changes and the whole experience is a lot of fun. I’ve never met finer people to do business with.

We have purchased several pieces of custom designed furniture from J&L as well as kitchen and bathroom countertops. In addition they redid our kitchen cabinets and installed some new kitchen appliances. The quality of their work has been outstanding. Their employees are a pleasure to have working in our home. Doug listened to what we wanted in the kitchen and drew up the perfect design. We wanted easy access to the cookbooks. Although he had never done it before he drew up a cabinet with pull out drawers which receives highest praise by all who see it. The quality of the cabinets and workmanship is superb and receives compliments by everyone who sees the kitchen. We have had J and L build several other cabinets and Doug has drawn up a plan for a bathroom remodeling to be completed later this summer. Doug and all of the other employees we had contact with treated us with respect and worked well with us any time we were involved with them. We give J and L our highest recommendation!

Doug and the gang are the best cabinetmakers in the country! I have told everyone they are geniuses! They created my farmhouse kitchen (see farmhouse, distressed pictures) exactly how I had pictured it. Their attention to detail and ingenious ideas are amazing( mixer shelf, spice cabinet, refrigerator armoire, coffee maker cabinet, island ) and everything in the laundry room and even the bathroom vanities are perfect! We highly recommend them. They are the BEST!

I gutted my kitchen and they designed the kitchen from scratch, built all of the custom cabinets, pullouts, etc. They also provided me the fabricator for the countertops. This turned out fantastic and would highly recommend working with them. The corner cabinet was fantastic and marries the kitchen and sunroom perfectly!

Work performed by J&L: 1.) J&L completed re-modeling our kitchen on June 30, 2010. We found J&L personnel easy to work with as on-site decisions had to be made. The end product was beautiful and completely to our satisfaction. Total cost was ~ 26K. 2.) J&L built us a custom maple hutch to match the style and stain of our kitchen cabinets. The hutch was equipped with LED lighting and delivered on July 29, 2011. We could not find any faults on the hutch and were again very thrilled with the results and the professionalism of the J&L people. Total cost was ~$4.4K. 3.) J&L built us a custom entertainment center cabinet as well as a coffee table to match the color and décor of our custom living room hutch and kitchen cabinetry. The two items were delivered on December 9, 2011. Again, we keep going to J&L whenever we need custom items built, because we know we will get an excellent product. Total cost was ~ $1.7K. I would highly recommend J&L Homecenter for people who want the very best in custom built products. Stanley F. Kozuch

We contacted J & L Home Center to update a home built in the 1970s. Updates included refacing a brick fireplace, replacing a tub and bathroom vanity, kitchen countertop. The quality of workmanship was great and we love the updates.

J&L Home Center came highly recommended. Very knowledgeable, professional and courteous staff. Our kitchen contains many angles where stock cabinetry just wouldn't fit, therefore we sought a company that would custom build the cabinetry. Doug listened to my list of wants and my design ideas and incorporated everything. When I was indecisive he led me with several different ideas and allowed me to choose the option I liked best. Doug and his staff exceeded our expectations during every step of the process. A true pleasure to work with. We will definitely hire them for the remodeling projects we have planned in the future.

Great team of people to work with! Details and quality of work was perfection. We were pleased to get so much done for our money. The crew took our ideas and worked them into the plan with additional electrical and lighting work. They even made updates to our boat house garage by adding heating/cooling and a full bath. We were able to live in this space comfortably while they remodeled our house. We made some wonderful friends during this process and will definitely call for their help again. Thank you TEAM J&L. Commented: What kind and color finish is on these cabinets? Love them!Cabinets are made of Hard Maple. M.L. Campbell stained "Weathered Mystic" with a light fog of "Pewter".
