If we consider the term “custom furniture”, a nostalgic image comes to mind: that of a handful of expert cabinet makers crafting a piece of furniture, guided by elaborate sketches hand drawn on a board. At The French Tradition, we have preserved this old fashioned work ethic of precision and quality, as well as incorporating the most up-to-date technology. Over the last 30 years we have acquired substantial expertise and applied it to the design and production of individual pieces for every room of your home with an emphasis on composition, form, and function. Franck Valles, a French native, came to Los Angeles after attending the School of the Louvre in Paris, France. His talent in design, engineering, and computer technology gave him a competitive edge when starting his business. His obvious love for the creation of aesthetically pleasing "works of art" is apparent in the details that infuse his design ideas, as well as in the beautiful workmanship that has become synonymous with The French Tradition. He is never more at ease than when he has a pencil and a blank sheet of paper in front of him as he listens to his customer's needs and quickly sketches a clear image that allows the client to conceptualize their dream kitchen or furniture. The drawings are then computerized to ensure a perfect fit in the room. Franck is a part of each and every piece that leaves the shop and he makes sure that his customers are satisfied. Jerry Boshear left his career in the technology industry 16 years ago and joined The French Tradition because of his love for furniture making. Since joining The French Tradition he has become a nationally certified kitchen, CKD, and bath designer., CBD. In addition to his regular design review meetings with Franck, Jerry oversees manufacturing and keeps everything moving in a timely fashion. His calm, steady demeanor is a bonus for all who work at The French Tradition. Every aspect of the furniture and cabinet making; including design, milling, sanding, carving, finishing, and installing, is done by our talented and experienced crew.. I have worked on several projects with The French Tradition, including bathrooms, kitchens, entertainment rooms, dining rooms, libraries, bedrooms and furniture pieces. Designs are always unique and of the highest quality. Everything was made to order and included unusual specs. Unbelievable fast turnaround - from design to install. Fantastic service throughout the process. Willing to source unusual hardware, woods or finishes. Finishing is first rate and made to look like a fine furniture piece. French Tradition is my first choice for cabinetry.

We are owner-builders of a custom Provence style home we will live in ourselves. We initially hired French Tradition to build complex interior doors, and when we saw the results we quickly decided to hire them to do all the woodwork in the house - full kitchen, arches, wainscot, unique elevator and wine cellar doors, cabinetry, and furniture. The work is extremely high quality, clearly custom, and beautifully distressed and finished. They did the installation too. Owner Franck Valles is a great designer who has built entire houses, and he was very helpful with design decisions (stone, patina, plaster, color, etc.) which were not even part of his scope of work. He also recommended providers of windows, tile, carved limestone fireplaces, antique hardware, stone floors, and a great muralist - all of whom we hired and all of whom did excellent work. French Tradition was also cost conscious throughout. He and his shop chief Jerry Boshear are also nice people to deal with. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

The French Tradition is unlike any cabinet maker. There designs and finishes are the best in Southern California. They meet their deadlines and if anything delivery early. They have a large facility that you must really see to appreciate. I feel their cabinets "made" my home. In addition I have hired the for additional spec projects and they were able to work with my budget.

My husband and I embarKed on a comprehensive kitchen/family room remodel. Frank and Jerry were instrumental in the design and outcome of our wonderful redesign. It included a butlers pantry, laundry room and walk in pantry. Everything was on time and as my husband stressed on budget. Unique items were the walk in pantry covering a back staircase all seamless. Jerry designed the indoor bar b q and built the screen doors for out sliding glass pocket doors. The French Tradition milled all the raised paneling for our walls, the bar, fireplace mantel and of course the flat screen TV with doors to cover when entertaining. Jerry took the time with me as I measured my pots for drawer heights. Many of our drawers are customized making storage more efficient. Jerry has been and still is just a phone call away. I highly recommend The French Tradition. We were introduced to them by our neighbors. Then our friends used them. We knew by reputation of people we knew that they were reliable. If I am able to send pictures I will.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to build the custom home of our dreams. So many people have nightmare experinces during this process but we were lucky enough to find Jerry and the crew at French Traditions to build all the cabinets in our house. The cabinets are built like fine furniture and finished accordingly. I have to add that Jerry was a true pleasure to work with.

Commented: Wood island topWood tops need to be floating, so to allow the natural movement of the wood. Natural wood will expand and contract with the change in moisture in the air. You need to have the counter reglued together...

Commented: Awesome! What are the closet and island dimensions?Hello, The island over all is 105" long by 28" wide and 84" tall. The room overall is 12' x 18' x 9' tall with a soffit at 8'.
