Holly's landscape plan was gorgeous!! The plant material colors, shapes, sizes, and symmetry evoked the inviting cottage ambiance I was longing for and her paver/gravel solution along the north side of my home was aesthetically pleasing as well as functional.

When we purchased our home we knew that the yard had long been neglected. Holly at The White Pear has been an enormous asset to us as we revive the property. She connected us with very professional and dependable landscapers, designed a functional update to our current layout and sourced beautiful plants, shrubs and trees. She also referred me to an excellent arborist. If you’re looking to upgrade your yard, I would recommend working with The White Pear.

Holly designed for me a stone garden patio, with a retaining wall, pathway and flower bed. It is a very down-sloped site and her design of curving shapes, roughly kidney-shaped, softened an angular corner of the yard. She was highly professional, a good, clear communicator, decisive and responsive to what I needed done. I have planted the bed with roses, salvia, and grasses, and it is a sweet, relaxing refuge to watch hummingbirds at sunset. I highly recommend The White Pear.

To date, Holly has been very responsive and has been ready to pivot with edits or changes. I love her idea about our back yard! Once complete, I will add to my review.

I couldn't be happier! I found The White Pear on Houzz and have been following Holly on Houzz and YouTube for a year. I found her past projects lovely, full of the design elements I desired. After purchasing a home with minimal landscaping, I decided to contact her. After our initial telephone conversation, she came out the assess the job. We discussed the plan, my desires, and the privacy and drainage needs. She then provided a beautiful design that addressed the issues and my request for lots of color. Design elements included a meandering crushed black gravel pathway, drip irrigation throughout all the flower beds, landscaping not just the front and back but including the sides, and a cottage vibe. She also recommended an excellent landscape installer. Holly went above and beyond. She came out post-surgery to oversee plant installation, tweaking the design according to her artistic eye. She's a joy to work with; friendly and kind. Communication was outstanding with timely texts, phone calls, and visits to the site. Neighbors have stopped by to tell me how beautiful the house looks. My backyard is now my "favorite room". I spend much of my time sitting out, staring at the beauty. I’m sure my neighbors all think that I’ve lost my mind!

When my wife and I decided we wanted to build our dream home, one of the things that made our "must have" list was a small, beautiful backyard where we didn’t need to spend all weekend maintaining it. We did research for a couple of months on designers and began interviewing them. It was critical we work with someone that understood the vibe we wanted. Holly with The White Pear was one of the finalists. Within the first few minutes of meeting Holly, we knew she was our designer. She asked us a lot of questions - more than any other designer we interviewed. She grasped the park-like concept we were hoping for and within a couple of weeks, we had our design. We only made a few modifications and her second submission was perfect. It was not what we had imagined, it was better. The details and yard shape were interesting and we knew this was going to be the perfect backyard for our new home. We got a quote from the contractor that she recommended, and we were happy that we were within our budget. After the installation was complete, we had several issues with the contractor and we became quite frustrated. We eventually called Holly and she immediately came over, met with the contractor and helped us get things sorted. The problems were immediately resolved and, while I’m not pleased with the contractor, I was so grateful that Holly advocated for us to get things fixed. I am so happy we selected The White Pear and would eagerly recommend Holly and her team to anyone that is looking for a customized landscape project.

Holly was easy to work with, adjusted her plans as needed according to my HOA rules, and offered to replace plants that didn't flourish properly. She was very knowledgeable and made a good plant selection for my little backyard garden.

This is an update to an earlier review. Holly is creative and capable. The value for money spent on her services, however, was poor. Many plants chosen for our landscape design were difficult if not impossible to find. They had been replaced with newer, improved versions. Holly referred us to a contractor, but increased the cost of his bid. This would have been fine if she had overseen the work. She didn’t…not even one visit during the 5 weeks the contractor toiled in our yard. Sun/shade requirements were inaccurate for our property, causing a loss of plant life. I thought we were going to love our backyard after spending $4000+ on a professional design. We could have gotten more for less elsewhere.

Working with Holly was exactly what I was looking for in landscape design. She brings an artist's eye to each project and spends time with each client to determine goals and expectations. If you are unsure of those goals, she will help to explore and shape them! She is knowledgeable about locale and conditions but above all, she creates beauty. Holly and the White Pear team are fantastic to work with! We are first time homeowners, so it was really helpful to have someone who was very experienced and easy to work with. Holly had great vision for our project, yet remained very open to feedback and hearing about our goals and was very accommodating to making a couple revisions to our plans along the way. Holly incorporated many unique spaces for us into one comprehensive design - a "view garden" with fountain, a cozy fireplace hangout space on a modern paver patio and an extended deck for dining. Holly is a great communicator who isn't afraid to email, text or pick up the phone to connect depending on what is most efficient. She even went above and beyond on two occasions - accommodating a surprise gift card request of our parents who wanted to contribute to the project and becoming a preferred seller of a fireplace we wanted so she could pass along a discount to us. We cannot recommend Holly and The White Pear enough!

Complete shade areas are not easy, but Holly designed a beautiful shade garden under an big old Japanese maple that had been bare dirt forever. Her design has set off that beautiful tree, and given that area, which is quite large, definition and softness. There was plenty of give and take. She also oversaw the installation, including extensive mulching of the entire front yard, which was on time and without a hitch. We highly recommend her.

We’re so pleased that we found The White Pear on Houzz. We were wanting to give our new home more curb appeal and to make our small side and back patios more appealing.. Holly came up with a beautiful plan and had a quality landscaping company (Autumn Leaf Landscaping) do the installation. Holly is very easy and fun to work with. She listens, she explains why she’s doing things and is very knowledgeable. It was an absolute pleasure working with Holly on our yard design project. We found Holly by searching Houzz where I came across photos of her work and loved what I saw. From our first meeting, my husband and I felt that Holly understood what was important to us and what features were absolute must-have's. We asked for a completely redesigned front and back yard plan that addressed drainage issues on a sloping lot, removing almost all grass and replacing with hardy and minimal-maintenance plant material, multiple hardscape areas and creating privacy for an exposed, corner lot. Holly's final design exceeded our expectations and we quickly moved forward with installation on the back yard using Holly's recommended landscaper. The install took about 2 months but once complete, our yard was transformed into a beautiful, calming, inviting oasis where we've heard from friends, family and neighbors that it feels "like a resort". Before this, we never spent time in our yard. Now, we spend many evenings enjoying the fire pit until it's just too cold to stay out any longer. We only wish we'd started earlier in the summer so we could enjoy it for longer this year. I can't wait to watch her design continue to transform our yard as the plants and trees mature over the years. Holly brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her designs. She is incredibly communicative, responsive, detail-oriented and just a fun, enjoyable person to work with. Can't recommend her enough!

After a major home remodel a focal point of my garden was a disaster. The sloping site had never been properly stabilized and construction mess was now visible from new large windows. Holly drew up a master plan for a new patio, pathways, and garden bed designs. She had to work around 30 years of collectors’ plants. Her design is just what I needed, and she was a clear communicator and efficient. Because of coronavirus, I am not enacting the plan, but I have a great design for the future. She did a fine job.

Holly was hired to provide a landscape design for our home. She listed to our hopes and dreams, incorporating them into the design. Holly communicated often throughout the process. We appreciate her expertise and experience with plant and hardscape materials. Our next step is installation; we can’t wait to see this vision become a reality.

Holly completely redesigned my front landscaping, and it turned out beautifully! She did an incredible job of creating a mix of evergreens, blooming plants, grasses, and hardscaping. Holly communicated throughout the project, using her experience to incorporate my general aesthetic of a more natural/organic look. Her team was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. She adhered to the projected timeline, and let me know in advance of any additional expenses related to things I was adding to the project. Holly created a beautiful design for my front yard. She incorporated evergreens with year-round blooming flowers while utilizing pleasing geometric angles and patterns.

I first found Holly on the Houzz website after looking for someone who could bring beauty and aesthetics to the sorely-neglected back yard of our 1910 Craftsman home. I was impressed and inspired by pictures of other jobs she has completed and was hopeful she could perform the same magic for us. From the moment we first met Holly she was warm and engaging, listening carefully to what our ideas were and very intuitively crafting a plan to suit our preferences, our lifestyle and our home. Her designs included both landscape and hardscape materials and she included plants of our request as well as new plants we had not considered. We are beyond happy with the results and hope to spend a lot more time outside, especially with family and friends. In addition to Holly's natural eye for beauty she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise. She is extremely detail-oriented, thorough and efficient with a get-it-done mentality. My texts, emails and phone calls are always promptly returned and I am confident she will follow through on things we've talked about. I already have a growing list of future projects as well as finishing touches to be added to our back yard and look forward to the pleasure of an ongoing relationship with Holly and The White Pear.

We moved into a three year old house last spring. The landscape wasn't what we wanted and it didn't have much cohesiveness so we looked on line and saw some work that Holly had done. We hied her to give us a design that we'd construct ourselves. Holly communicated with us frequently through email and sent us links to ideas of plants and hardscape she wanted our feedback on. She provided some unique ideas such as pleached trees that provide a visual barrier but aren't too deep. We gave her some tough criteria with making room for a green house, raised garden beds, a fire pit, and extended patio. She seemed to hit it all. We've just started moving some of the shrubs and trees in the yard per the design she provided and the initial impression is very positive. Along the back we wanted some height for screening and she recommended an evergreen magnolia which we had in the front yard. After we moved it to the back, it was a nice improvement. We look forward to installing the rest of the landscaping over the next several months.

After years of trying to landscape our yard ourselves, we finally sought the help of a professional, and found that in Holly. She was fun, responsive, had a lot of great ideas, and turned our yard into a garden. We love it and we can't wait to watch it grow in the coming years. Do yourself a favor, and call her! I had lived in my house for 14 years when I hired Holly Stickley of The White Pear to design my backyard. I had never worked with a designer before, so I had a lot of questions. Holly answered all of them as she walked me through the process. She and her team worked tirelessly in the demolition and construction phase, removing all the grass and creating beautiful berms and pathways. In addition to utilizing plants and materials that I already had, she introduced me to exciting new plants. The following year, The White Pear transformed my front yard.
