Hojat and his team were wonderful to work with. He custom built new cabinets for our upstairs main bathroom and did an outstanding job. Hojat is very gifted in his cabinetry skills and he has an excellent eye for detail. He designed cabinets that were in keeping with the style and age of our home. I will definitely recommend Hojat Kitchen Cabinetry to my friends and family.

I could not be happier for choosing hojat custom cabinetry for doing the cabinetry for our entire home including the kitchen, mudroom, wet bar, ensuite and bathrooms! They worked with us from the start to make sure we are getting everything we wanted and Hojat and Nesiba provided great recommendations along the way. There pricing was very fair considering the high end choices we made, they were even able to match a painted glaze look that we wanted providing numerous samples until we were happy which takes a lot of patience as we were very particular. The biggest plus is the manufacturing was in their shop in Edmonton allowing us to see the product and tweaking it before installation, we also added things last minute and they were able to accommodate quickly all of which would not have been possible with other companies that had manufacturing done out of the province. I highly recommend them for any size big or small!

We at Reside Renovations hired Hojat's to custom build two vanities and a linen tower on one of our projects. We had originally looked into ordering them through our plumbing wholesale company but they could not guarantee the Color match. Upon meeting with Hojat's and presenting a design and Color they built exactly what we were looking at for our client. We couldn't be more happy to have had these beautiful vanities as a part of our project that are a part of our portfolio now, And a part of our wonderful clients home.

We are extremely happy with the master craftsmanship that has been put into our cabinets from Hojat Custom Cabinetry - from the first consultation to the finished design...the product is outstanding. Attention to detail, friendly service and their commitment to giving you their best is what comes to mind when dealing with them. I would recommend this company (and have) to anyone looking for quality custom work.

From the time Hojat's Kitchen Cabinetry built and installed the 2 office cabinets we have received compliments and comments on how good the office looks. (Some as recently as last week.) With input and suggestions from Hojat's Kitchen, the resulting design perfectly supplied our need. The work was performed in a timely and efficient manner. We have no hesitation recommending this company to others.

We had a very bad experience with this company. We are having to sue them to get our money back. They insisted on a 50% deposit before we had agreed on a finish as they did not have any samples to show us but assured us they would produce a sample to our satisfaction. We asked for a simple antiqued paint. They could not get the sample anywhere close to what we asked for prior to the installation date so they said they would install the base cabinets without doors. They demanded $30,000 prior to delivery ( initial, deposit plus another $ 17,000). Then they only deliver d a fraction of the cabinets and sent an inexperienced kid to do the install who made a lot of mistakes that had to be redone which held up the appliance installation. The installer didn't even have a plan but was relying on pictures from his cell phone to do the install which were not even current. He was very unpleasant and surly and disrespectful. They did cutting inside my house which damaged my hardwood floor and made a mess rather than taking time to set up,the saw outside. The drawers they installed were all the wrong size and were not solid wood as agreed upon. The installer shimmied all the drawers to make them look like they fit but were all not the correct width. They also used 20 inch drawer slides rather than full depth drawer slides without consulting us so all drawers and pullout not deep enough. There were a number of other problems as well. We told them we were very unhappy with the work and they were very belligerent and tried to bully us into completing the kitchen . We asked for our money back and they threatened to complete the work unauthorized and bill us for the full amount. We have made a formal offer of settlement which they refuse to discuss. They have Over $ 30,000 of our money and we are left with a shambles. We had the work assed by another custom kitchen contractor who estimates the cost of materials on site at approximately $6,000. Most of which will have to be taken out when we redo the mess. Terrible product, terrible service and terrible people.

This is a long review but will save you much time, money and frustration by reading it.
As I had stated in our letter threatening action against Hojat Kitchen Cabinetry for “Abandonment of Project”, we had chosen them to provide our kitchen cabinetry based on the sincerity they showed upon visiting their shop and the quality of the cabinetry present in their showroom.
Their price, although competitive was up to 33% higher than other Cabinet Companies that we had explored but the determining factor was that they were 100% local to Edmonton, meaning they manufactured their cabinets in house. Additionally they appeared to be a sincere well run family business.
Indeed, as we put the deal together, they were agreeable and reassuring about everything.
The first warning sign should have been the demand for 50% of the full price upon signing the order. At this time everything seemed fine so we went ahead.
We had a minor stumble (one week delay) with the starting date from our end, but as it turned out the cabinets were not yet ready so all was fine. This was followed by a further two week delay from their end as they had to shuffle crews to accommodate the revised scheduling. So far, no big deal, or so we thought.
Finally several weeks after the original start date work commenced. We had our second warning sign. Per the contract, they wanted another 45% of the payment prior to installation.
As we had all the cabinets on site, this seemed OK. In retrospect, IT WAS NOT! This was April 29th. At this point we had paid 95% of our total invoice and no work had started.
This is when the first glimmer of problems started to arrive. Arrival times came and went. A “Tuesday AM” start might mean by 11AM, all the time with one of us waiting at home. Some days no one came and we had to call to find they were delayed at another project site. Day after day this continued.
We had gutted the kitchen and installed new floors so were effectively without a kitchen through this entire period. Due to various conflicts, our install (A 100 square foot kitchen cabinet install, with 13 linear feet of upper and 14 linear feet of lower cabinets), had morphed into its second week.
I had planned to be around the entire week but at the end of week one we were still not even 60 % installed. While travelling the 2nd week, I got a call from my wife in the morning telling me that the cabinet installer (The Company owner) was finishing on a corner cabinet that both she and my 20 year old son were saying was crooked, and the counter templaters were there to take the template.
I might add that now the granite contractors schedule had dictated the final work on the cabinets being finally done.
HE CLAIMED THAT OUR HOUSE WAS CROOKED AND THAT HIS CABINET WAS PERFECT and refused to fix the problem prior to the granite guys taking the template.
The corner cabinet was about ¾” off center of its spot, and angle 3-4 degrees from being parallel to the back wall.
He managed to convince my wife and son that there was no problem and that nothing would be detectable after a few minor modifications.
The Granite guys took their template. On May 29th and 30th we took a full portfolio of pictures showing that the dimensions of the corner cabinets were wrong and that things were not correct.
No further work was done that week, and the cabinets were now about 75% done.
I returned home that weekend and it seemed very clear where the errors were. We had a cabinet that had not been measured properlyfor the spot, and the installer had just installed them as if nothing was amiss. So what if the cabinet was not parallel to the back wall.
ON Monday we called the designer/salesperson and explained the whole affair since the installer basically ignored our concerns. We arranged for him to come by and look at the situation (he had done all the measuring). Upon looking at the cabinets, which by now we had re-measured and marked he attempted to rationalize the issue and not admit any error in either the cabinet sizes or the installation. Finally he did say that if we were not happy they would revisit it and fix it. Subsequently we got an e-mail from him, again stating that the house must be crooked, and that was why the cabinets did not fit. We reminded him that this was Hojat Custom Cabinetry, it was supposed to be custom to the house. Subsequently I measured the cabinets and found that every cabinet was a stock size, nothing at all custom except the name. Subsequent examination would prove that the walls were indeed straight and all angles PERFECTLY symmetrical.
The granite counters showed up before anyone from Hojat Cabinets came back. After extensive gouging and cutting on the inside of the cabinets, they finally got a hole that the cooktop would fit into. It was oddly offset too far to the right, the same direction as we had originally shown them prior to templating.
What is worse is that the cooktop was clearly crooked in the counter, lined up at the front but an inch different at the back. It was very obvious to even a casual observer. We also had a difference of ¾ inch off center on the upper cabinets at the same time. All these issues were reported to them but no action seemed forthcoming. Making the template on the crooked counter had transferred the error to the Counter, just as my son had predicted to Hojat that it would weeks earlier.
We reported the problem to Hojat by email text and photographs. Now we began to find that no calls or texts were being taken or answered, no schedule was forthcoming, and nothing was proceeding on the kitchen. We were now in a barely usable state.
By June 24th, nearly two months from the delivery of the cabinets, with nobody from HOJAT CUSTOM CABINETS communicating with us, I was forced to send a letter of intent to start legal proceedings for “Abandonment of Project” and complain to the Better Business Bureau, as well as to write up negative reviews on all the review and social media sites.
I also contacted an independent expert consultant to come in at my expense to tell me if my complaints were legitimate. When he saw the issues he laughed and said that the install crew showed incompetence leaving things that way, and any judge would definitely find them negligent.
I gave them one business week to respond from receipt of this registered letter. The following week, midweek, about a day or two late considering the Canada Day Holiday, we got a call saying they would schedule to come out and fix things. Another week and a half and no answers then with another message left threatening to commence with legal action, they sent one of the same installers (The Principals son) to rectify the problem.
Prior to commencing work, he demanded a letter “authorizing him to move the base cabinet to where we said it should be prior to him commencing work. He claimed they would take no liability for fixing the problem!!!.
He corrected the base cabinet (July 16th) after I gave him a letter saying what I wanted done.
With the cabinet square he refused to correct the upper cabinet saying “the office sent him just for the base cabinet problem”
This was the owner’s son!
The granite guys subsequently came again to correct the counter (which involved re-cutting and re-polishing) on July 29th. We had to dismantle several drawers and cabinets for this process.
This resolved the lower corner cabinet issue, albeit with an internally severely gouged cabinet, after months of an unusable and incomplete kitchen.
On to the final chapter. We were now mostly complete although the new fillers on the base cabinet were no longer parallel, at least the cooktop was straight, albeit internally pushed right up against the inside of the base cabinet.
The only outstanding item (By now our standards were quite a bit lower) was the movement of the right upper cabinet to match the offset of the upper left cabinet. Again, our messages were largely ignored.
Finally on August 6th we got a response from someone new at the office that must not have been told to ignore us.
We would see an installer on August 10th in the morning to move the upper cabinet she said. Sure enough, again the owner’s son arrived to move the cabinet. He set up his equipment in the garage, looked at the cabinet, and then said he had to collect our final 5% payment in advance of his work.
We said we would not pay the final payment until the job was done and we had a final acceptance walk though, as agreed at contract signing. The installer threatened to leave. We were flabbergasted. Finally he agreed to do it if we wrote a letter saying this cabinet movement was our final condition. Under threat of him leaving, we provided a letter and told him that our salesperson/designer would have to come for a final walk through and collection of the cheque. It took him about 40 minutes to move the cabinet. He was at our house at least three hours!
After doing a mediocre job he left.
The whole $20,000 kitchen cabinet provision and installation is only slightly better than mediocre and the installation process was a fiasco. You see evidence of amateurish work in several aspects of the installation after final completion. Cabinet quality, prior to removal and re-installation and the gouging (performed by Hojat) to get the cook-top to install is good.
Only cabinetry and installation was provided by Hojat. Plumbing and electrical were additional third party and went without a hitch. The granite is fine despite having to have been redone, probably at the granite subcontractors own cost due to faulty cabinet installation. If Hojat would have listened early no remedial work would have been required at all. Throughout the process he claims that his crooked installation is the correct way and ignores any lack of symmetry.
Hojat seemed not only intent on, but dedicated to not responding to any of the issues.
Our external expert determined that the walls were indeed straight and the cabinets had just been measured wrong for the space, by a minute amount. Custom installation as opposed to just installation of the cabinets as delivered was a requirement to make things right.
Throughout the ordeal, despite our attempts at calm, rational and polite interaction, Hojat seemed determined that there were no issues that they needed to deal with, from our first concern on.
We are currently accepting the cabinet installations as is, and we have paid the remaining 5% but feel very much that we made a terrible mistake dealing with HOJAT CUSTOM CABINETS. Their terrible Customer Service and bizarre demands for letters, and failure to follow through on anything proactively still sickens me.
Be very careful to set your own payment schedule and not succumb to “Company Policy” or their claims of risk in building the cabinets in advance. With this company, we should have withheld 30% or more.
I firmly believe that without a threat of legal action they would have waived the remaining 5% and walked away without fixing anything. On the whole, they behave as an unethical company would be expected to.
We have our walk-through this afternoon where we will show all the remaining small flaws and pay our 5% but I beseech you to pass over this company for any Cabinet needs.
We have an extensive photo record if you find any of this saga to seem unbelievable…as I would.
We are now ready for a backsplash after just 16 weeks from Cabinet delivery.

I have worked with Hojat Kitchen Cabinetry on a couple of occasions. They have always done an excellent job, and delivered a very high quality product.
The best comment I can make is one of repeat business. I will continue to use Hojat for my future cabinetry needs.

We looked at several options for our kitchen reno and they all seemed quite pricey for what we would get. We stumbled upon Hojat Kitchens at a reno show and thought we would have them come and give us a quote. From our first meeting with Hojat we were really impressed with their service and craftsman ship. Hojat takes great pride on providing a top quality project at a reasonable price. Their attention to detail in both the construction of our cabinets as well as the installation was evident throughout the project. I really enjoyed working with Hojat and would recommend him to anyone who s considering a kitchen renovation.

We were delighted with the craftsmanship and attention to detail that was put into the kitchen and bathroom cabinets built by Hojat. We live about 5 hours north of Edmonton and we were looking only for someone to build the cabinets as we planned to install them ourselves as part of our renovation project. The Hojat company was very willing to work with us on our kitchen/bathroom renovations and we greatly appreciated all of the personal follow up service that was provided to us as we completed the project. All the cabinets fit perfectly when we installed them. We would highly recommend them for their excellent, but affordable cabinets and their willingness to support the customer's needs.
