About Us

Elizabeth Taich Design is a full-service interior architecture and design firm that specializes in sophisticated yet livable environments. Our team focuses on the following: -New construction and remodeling -Project management/owners representative -Interior design and furnishings -Kitchen and bath design -Single day design consultations Our experience and skill sets are unique in that we are able to offer a service that spans the entire project lifecycle or any one part of it. From builder selection, to interior architecture through furnishings, we provide continuity and a single point of contact to ensure that the client’s vision is executed on schedule and within budget. How We Work with Clients: No two projects are the same, but given our breadth of experience, we have developed a keen sense for each step of the process and common pitfalls. We take responsibility for anticipating these challenges and providing clients with solutions to help work through them. Our process is methodical, yet flexible – and we always seem to end up having fun! About Elizabeth: Elizabeth began her career at Christopher Peacock in Greenwich, CT before moving to Chicago to design for luxury custom home builder, Environs Development. By melding her experiences, she developed a classic and elegant foundation layered with modern and vintage accents. Elizabeth is known for her ability to mix custom with retail, modern with antique, and then blend it all into a cohesive and beautiful final product. She spends a great deal of time absorbing her clients’ individual styles and lifestyles before any design work begins. Elizabeth’s clients often comment on her meticulous detail, refined taste, and ability to put herself in their shoes. It is Elizabeth’s ultimate goal to design a home that is a complete reflection of the client by blending practicality and luxury to enhance their everyday life. Elizabeth Taich was recommended through an acquaintance. I was only looking to reupholster a couple of pieces of furniture. Through the process I decided to purchase a couple of additional chairs and redo some drape panels. Elizabeth has made this effortless on my part. She is extremely efficient, timely, patient and enjoyable to work with. I have worked with a few designers and she is by far the best.

Elizabeth designed entirely new master and kids bathrooms for our new home, and we could not be happier with how they turned out. Elizabeth listened to our family’s needs, provided valuable suggestions, and aligned resources quickly. Both bathrooms were completed on time and within budget. Elizabeth is a joy to work with, and the entire process from our initial consultation through construction was relatively painless. It was wonderful to have someone with such strong design skills and project management expertise. Our new bathrooms add so much value, beauty, and utility to our new home.

This is our second project with Elizabeth, which was largely the updating of our kitchen and guest bath. (The first project was the major overhaul!) Her knowledge of the practice - from appliances to wallpaper - meant that her recommendations were right in line with our discussions. She took the overwhelming number of options for each part of the project and distilled them into a manageable number for us to choose from. We relied on her judgment heavily and were not disappointed! She is charming to work with and timely in deliverables. We will not hesitate to call her again.

We recently had the great good fortune to hire Elizabeth Taich Design to renovate a newly-purchased 1926 apartment in Chicago’s Gold Coast while we were living outside the country. A consummate professional, Elizabeth has an impressive design sense and impeccable taste. Extremely organized, diligent, and very quick to respond, she is a great listener and teacher. Having previously re-done houses in a Boston suburb, a New England coastal beach community, and a Bahamian island, my husband and I knew absolutely nothing about mid-West period design; nonetheless, Elizabeth painstakingly and tirelessly walked us through its principles, and answered every concern and fear of ours with infinite patience. We are grateful for all we learned from her! In addition, she maintains a stable of tradesmen who share her very high standards. Among the challenges our project presented was perhaps the smallest and ugliest master bathroom ever: Elizabeth promised to “make it beautiful”, and that is exactly what she did. It is still (unavoidably) on the small side, but it is very, very beautiful. It was a pleasure to work with Elizabeth, and we give her our highest recommendation.

Elizabeth did a complete redesign/rebuild of our master bath and other bathroom. She was able to boil down the overwhelming number of choices for tile, fixtures, cabinetry and plumbing and present several scenarios that were perfect for what we were looking for. Will use Elizabeth again.

I've known Elizabeth for over 10 years now. We've worked together in several different capacities over that time. First and foremost, we are one of her natural stone suppliers. She brings her clients in and together we help make selections for their respective projects. Her experience and expertise in the design field really make my job simple. More importantly, it makes her client's experience and decision making that much easier. I know this firsthand because Elizabeth helped my wife and I with some tough design decisions with our first home purchase. The options she gave were concise, well thought-out, and the project turned out amazing. She's professional, dependable, respectful, and darn good at what she does. It's an absolute pleasure working with her.

We have now worked with Elizabeth Taich Design on projects in two homes and have been elated with the experience and end results in both homes. One project involved a gut renovation of a master bathroom in a vintage condo. Elizabeth had impeccable taste in guiding our selection of materials and did so within our budget. She managed the contractors adeptly, which allowed us to enjoy the process. When we moved, we worked with ETD to furnish and accessorize our living room, kitchen and family room. Again, I cannot speak highly enough of Elizabeth's professionalism, taste and ideas. She listened thoughtfully to the look and feeling we sought for the space and created a youthful, sophisticated (and young family friendly!) result that incorporates color and pattern in a fresh yet classic way that we love.

I hired Elizabeth to help me furnish my formal room and kitchen. For me, the most important quality in a professional is organization and reliability, and Elizabeth is both reliable and very organized. She is also a wonderful designer. She helped me choose and design unique and beautiful pieces of furniture for our formal sitting room. She also helped me with updating our kitchen with furniture that was family friendly and still beautiful. We receive so many compliments!

Elizabeth was refreshing to work with and adjusted to our style. She really listened to what we wanted in comparison to our prior interior designer who consistently suggested design elements which we specifically indicated we did not like. Elizabeth made an overwhelming process of picking out paint, flooring, tile, countertops, and kitchen cabinets for a new construction easy to manage. Efficiency was very important to us as busy professionals who wanted to complete the project on time with competing travel schedules. She also made the decision making process easy and enjoyable. What could have been countless hours was reduced to three one-hour meetings looking at tile, granite and cabinets. I was relieved how easy and effortless she made the process. Not only did she save us time but she also saved us money as she very quickly helped us eliminate costly choices. I have continued to hire Elizabeth as we remodel our 2nd house and trust her design approach to align with our taste and budget.

I highly recommend Elizabeth. We did a complete gut rehab of my kitchen, which included moving a load bearing wall, all plumbing and an exterior wall. She designed the kitchen and all the finishes, plus helped finish the powder room and living room. I wanted a more contemporary look in my 1902 house and she was able to make it look fresh and new while respecting the traditional elements. She has a great eye, is really efficient and respectful of my time, and worked well with the contractor. She was also really great at listening to what I liked and bringing the project all together- I love the results!

Elizabeth was wonderful to work with. Ours was a small project but a very important one. We needed to get paint colors right to sell our large home. She came in and her confidence with the color selection put us at great ease. The house looks great. She also helped us pick furniture for our future home and had some really great ideas. She was a pleasure to work with.
