About Us

Simple, modern home design. I run 30X40 Design Workshop a modern architecture practice located on Mount Desert Island. I'm inspired by agricultural structures and industrial materials, simple forms, and design born out of a narrative story. While my architecture aesthetic is outwardly simple, each project crafts a story about a specific client, in a specific time, and a specific place, using high quality materials. I find this results in a wonderfully engaging process and a more meaningful home. A few months ago I enjoyed working with Eric on modifying and adapting his Longhouse 2.0 design to fit my needs. He was very receptive, offering several options and recommendations in a timely manner, each time ensuring that I was satisfied with the modifications. I am an interior designer and am a huge fan of Eric's work. His designs are timeless, simple and truly elegant. As an interior designer I understand that creating simplicity requires tremendous knowledge, skill and sheer talent. I found Eric through one of his images on Houzz. I was looking for an Architect to design a studio on the same property as my main home. All I can say was it was a excellent experience. I used architects in the past for other projects and it was not as smooth or enjoyable as working with Eric. He guided me through the pro and con of each idea and presented alternative solutions to each problem. I would use Eric again on any future projects I have.

I have recently had the pleasure of working with Eric on modifying the Longhouse 3.0. His designs are simple yet modern with a strong emphasis on materials and details. Eric is very responsive to changes to his plans and offers great ideas on how to make them work for you. His communication is great and he makes you feel comfortable talking about design with him.
