Jim turned an ugly and dark staircase into a stunning piece of work. The beauty of the work lies in Jim's meticulous attention to details. A very fine job! The stairs have easily become a focal point of the house, and have won the admiration of everyone who has come in.

Jim Pittman did an amazing job replacing our 90's honey oak bannister with beautiful new white newell posts and wrought iron ballisters. Everything he installed was made in his workshop and very high quality. He suggested adding simple details that really gave our staircase a beautiful custom look. I highly recommend Jim if you are doing work on your stairs. Other contractors gave us bids for stairs where they just ordered the pieces from a catalog and installed them-Jim handmade every part of our stairs (except ballisters obviously). He was very prompt in getting a bid back to us within 24 hours while general contractors took over a month to give us a bid.

Jim is a true craftsman who has long-standing experience building staircase. While the layout of my house doesnt allow much room for creativity, he has managed to break down the old ugly drywall-bound stairs and install a brand new white oak staircase with beautiful newel posts. It completely transforms the ambience of the home, as more sunlight can now stream in from the second floor / stairs landing to the main living space on the first floor. Jim manufactures most of the staircase parts at his workshop, and only spends a few days assembling and installing the staircase on site. Communication with Jim is easy, work is top quality, and I am left with a impressive new staircase. Thank you West Coast Stairs!

Jim did a tremendous job remodeling the entry landing of my house which included replacing a partial wall with a maple rail and wrought iron balusters. He also installed hardwood stairs going down to the family room and added a great looking maple bannister also with wrought iron balusters. I highly recommend Jim to anyone who wants quality work at a reasonable price.

Second project with this company: major remodel of master bathroom. We had an old bathroom with tile floor, glass shower, and a jacuzzi tub on a platform. Had a bid from a remodel company for $75K [their 'design' person didn't pay any attention to what we wanted]. Called Jim Pittman at West Coast Stair [who had replaced a stairway for us, see separate 5 star review]. He worked with us on design, and his crew/subcontractors installed what we wanted for about half the cost. Due to a previous leak, some structural work on the outside of the house was also needed and was done with this job. All of the crew were professionals, on-time and on budget - especially the tile work on the floor and shower which was a work of art. Convinced us to add heating under the floor, a great addition.

Jim Pittman of West Coast Stair built our beautiful sweeping, curved staircase with incredible Cherry Handrail, Red Oak treads and Select Alder Risers, and my wife and I absolutely love the finished product. He and his team were very helpful and accurate in proposing the scope of the build, the time needed to construct the stairwell, and how the final project would blend with the rest of our custom built retirement house at Hood Canal. They did not disappoint. In addition, Jim designed and built on site, two Cherry mantels for our main stone Fireplace and master bedroom fireplace and both are perfect additions to a detail rich house. Jason was fantastic. He did 2 sets of stairs including railings in house in ipe to match my flooring. He really went above a beyond to make sure the job was done right which is a difficult quality to find in a contractors these days. When the glue didnt hold on the first set of treads he built (which he figured out before installing them), he called the glue manufacturer and did his own research and ultimately found a solution which I'm happy to say after 2+ years is holding up flawlessly. He kept me up-to-date on his progress through the tread delays as well as any other schedule changes. While the project ended up a bit late I'm still happy with the end result

Jason did an excellent job on our railings. He worked with the stair people to make sure everything would work out. Added input on design and was always in contact as to when he would be here to work. Highly recommend!!
