About Us

The husband and wife team of Jim and Gerri Boyd founded the business in 1970, trading as Jim Boyd’s Carpet World in the Baltimore MD area. In 1998, the company moved to their current modern 11,500 sq. ft. showroom and warehouse in Timonium, MD offering sales and installation for a wide selection of quality carpeting, area rugs, hardwood flooring, laminates, vinyl and ceramic tile. In 1999, Jim and Gerri joined the national buying co-op Flooring America. This affiliation provides our customers with an even greater selection of flooring, more competitive pricing and extended warranties. Our carpet & flooring store serves the needs of both residential homeowners and business customers, including many interior designers, interior decorators and home builders. One factor setting the company apart is their strong emphasis on superior customer service. Jim Boyd’s business philosophy is based upon treating customers and employees with the utmost consideration.

From the moment we walked in the showroom to today- everything was exceptional. Steve was a great salesman- I’d say more a consultant. He listened and completely understood our project. The gentleman that did the measurements and then the INSTALLERS! They rock! Both the hardwood and carpet crews were so amazingly good. I can’t speak highly enough of this organization.

I needed to replace several rooms of carpeting for a home I had just purchased, and also needed the wood floors refinished as well. Bill Gould was my sales associate and I could not have had a better experience. This company, and Bill in particular, knows how to deliver old fashioned service. He was very patient and accommodating during the selection process (with many samples being taken back and forth) and offered his expertise on products I was considering. The installation was on time and went as planned. There were a few glitches with the floor refinishing, but Bill made sure everything was taken care of. I will definitely return for any future flooring needs.

Recently had carpet installed on stairs. The salesman guided me to remnant section for choice and many price ranges, sizes for my application and set up install. Installers were excellent. They were very professional and finished in the 2 hour range. Very pleased.

We needed carpet for 4 bedrooms as it turned out. Steve was WONDERFUL in dealing with canceling our first order the next day for one of the rooms when we decided to go with something entirely different, then patiently helping us make another choice for the other 3 bedrooms. On installation day, we panicked when the carpet didn’t seem to be like the sample we had a photo of. Steve wanted us to be certain it was right, so he came out on his day off with the sample board because he wanted us yo be 100% confident. He was just so kind to us the whole way through. And Angel did a phenomenal job on the installation. We were so impressed with the seamlessness in a very tricky-shaped bedroom going into an attic space. Just incredibly done. And the carpet looks fantastic—slightly different than we anticipated, but actually better than we originally thought it would look. Kudos all around for Jim Boyd’s!

I wanted the same look and feel for the flooring in my new kitchen to match the rest of my 50's bungalow. After three contractors told me it couldn't be done, I went to Jim Boyd's to confirm that. So glad I did, Boyd's was able to closely match the existing flooring in the house and now the transition into my kitchen is seamless. Love love love the look and feel! Job was done as scheduled and they did a great install.

Old kitchen flooring was replaced with Provenza flooring. From salesman to installers- all were professional, pleasant to work with and knowledgeable of their trade. I am very pleased with the end result and would recommend to friends/ family.
