We hired Castilia Design Inc. to design the full renovation of a 1956 bungalow we had purchased for our retirement home. What we found was someone who could not only beautifully design the interior and exterior, but also draw the plans, become our general contractor, and essentially take away all our worries for what was for us, a very large project. We were able to rely on Ashley for everything from the demolition to paint, all in an efficient professional manner and a conscious accounting of costs and budget. From a dated smallish fixer upper, she was able to create a modern, comfortable, open and airy home, and although we were technically downsizing, we never felt like we lost any luxury or space. Always ensuring she understood our tastes and preferences, Ashley never hesitated to provide varied solutions in all selections. Her advice and good taste was always on point, and her expertise and experience invaluable in the many challenges that can come into play in the renovation of an older home. We quickly learned that while Ashley supervised the project, especially since we lived in a different city during the renovation, she would take ownership and free us of the stressful details. We hired Ashley as a designer for our full house remodel. She was worth every penny and more. She prepared the drawings for the project and submitted them to the city for approval. The suggestions she made for possible layout options were very insightful - we ended up going with a different vision then what we had originally had in mind as a result of her suggestions. She also guided us through the process of choosing all of the finishings including counter tops, tile, cabinets, appliances, plumbing, paint, flooring, siding, cabinet handles, light fixtures etc. She was enthusiastic and willing to consider all the different ideas we came up with. I was quite picky and there were a few instances when I would change my mind about what I wanted after having spent considerable time making initial decisions. Ashley never complained - she took everything in stride and was always willing to start again until we found a better option. Ashley was without a doubt the most valuable person on our team. She was unbelievably generous with her time - spending as much time as it took to go through every detail and consider every possible option. Her kindness and patience were what kept us calm through the most stressful parts of the reno. When we were having difficulties with our contractor, she was always willing to listen to our concerns and take steps to find solutions to the problem - even when those steps went beyond the scope of her responsibilities. Beyond her professional skill set, Ashley is simply lovely to deal with. She is calm and collected. We would recommend her to anyone and hire her again for future projects without any hesitation.

We had a great experience with Castilia Design when designing a new kitchen layout. Ashley was very helpful, professional, and had lots of great ideas to help us come up with exactly what we were looking for.
