My husband and I appreciated working with Doug at CADvantage to design a plan for a new house four years ago. It was important for us to strike a good balance between an excellent floor plan and an attractive home, and he helped us to do just that. We were so impressed with his work, that we have since collaborated on a design for our cabin at the lake.

This was our first experience having our dream home designed. We were amazed how simple CADvantage made this process and the outcome achieved exceeded our expectations. CADvantage listened to our vision, asked questions important to the design of the home. The work was completed on time and budget. Their experience of home design can be seen in the drawings, functionality in all areas of the home and building costs to meet our budget. The software they use was very helpful to us providing color 3D images of the home interior, exterior or sections of the home to visually see the final look and size of the rooms and home.

We have used CADvantage twice, once to provide designs for a home renovation (2006) and most recently (2016) to design our large (5000 ft2) new dream home. Doug and his team have been professional, listened to our needs and worked with us to provide detailed plans in a timely manner. Doug Schmidt was recommended as the best when we first started thinking about a house renovation. We have a 1923 character home in an established part of the city and we wanted to be considerate of the neighbourhood. We didn't want to stick out; we wanted a renovation done today that looked like it belonged to the original house. We met with our contractor and Doug and were instantly impressed with the kinds of questions Doug asked about our vision. Doug and Sandra produced several drafts for us and we so appreciated their sensitivity to our concerns and both were always positive and offered great solutions to the challenges of renovating an older character home. Now two years after those initial meetings, we still receive compliments from our neighbours on the design, how well it blends into the original house and into the neighbourhood. Doug and Sandra were wonderful to work with, professional and efficient. They adapted the plans to some changes we needed and they did so quickly and cheerfully.
