I have worked with Arnie on many projects over the past 25 years. They range from a million dollar remodel of a 100 year old Lake Michigan cottage, the design of a 4000 sq. foot car/entertainment building that looks like a 50’s era gas station complete with gas pumps, the remodel of a urban loft, a remodel of a executive residential home with wine cellar, and the remodel and expansion of a commercial office building. Arnie brings creative energy, unique designs and collaborative teams to make my vision a reality. That reminds me, I need to get Arnie started on a expansion of my corporate headquarters.

A friend recommended Arnie Bunkley after I saw how he made the seamless transitions from old to new in her house. Needing to meet future needs in my 36 year-old 2-story house with a step-down family room, I asked Arnie to design living space on one floor. He assessed current functionality with a repurposing exercise, then turned to designing bedroom, bath, closet, laundry and kitchen on the main level and a new garage/studio workspace at ground level. Throughout, Arnie was always willing to listen, open to input and had creative suggestions for implementing ideas within budget. Although the front of the house looks much as it did, I am delighted with the unfolding of the new interior, with high ceilings full of light and space. Working the design around existing gardens, trees and fishpond, and the realities of well and septic tank, the back terrace and covered porch invite lingering to enjoy the garden at any time of day. Arnie made nooks and crannies work, made good budgetary suggestions and turned my list of spaces and uses into thoughtful 2D plans followed by 3D reality. He was helpful in the selection of the right builder and kept in contact with me and the builder throughout the construction process. I would certainly recommend this architect, and should I ever be so crazy as to do another project, would hire him again.

My wife and I hired AB2 Architecture to design several updates for our home in Kalamazoo. We were delighted with the designs, professionalism, creativity and workmanship of every step of the process. He worked diligently to solve several major difficulties with house and found significant ways to bring needed resources and tchnology to bear. We hired AB2 ten years ago to tell us what we could do with the very unusual house we purchased. Several other architects suggested we tear it down and start anew. Arnie Bunkley, however, came up with the most remarkable plan that incorporated every one of our specified needs into the existing structure (with an addition). Almost without change, we accepted his plan and he supervised every detail of the construction. Ten years down the road, we're just as happy with it as the day we moved in. Visitors ooh and ahh over what he did with our home. We just love it. Since then, he's also designed and seen us through re-construction of a commercial building we purchased for our office. It, too, has been perfect for our needs and much admired by our clients. He knows the importance of a budget and finds the best ways to stretch funds.
