About Us

Benson Design & Development Co. has been providing residential design for almost 3 decades from remodeling to new construction. We are a small Boutique Firm where we give you the SAME QUALITY AS THE TOP FIRMS FOR MUCH LESS. Derrek Benson, Owner, has an extensive construction background which shows in his plans and details. Our team work’s in the latest version of Auto-Cad providing very high standard of drawing. plans, sections and details custom to the project. plans are drawn at exact framing scale along with all our details and sections to ensure the highest accuracy when building. Higher end Contractors & Interior Designers appreciate our plans because we explain in detail all important design issues. We coordinate the drawings with the Structural Engineer, Mechanical ngineer and all outside consultants so everything is designed to work during construction. The Majority of construction issues will be addressed during the drawing phase through the sections and section details. We are very experienced making sure that your project meets Home Owner Association guide lines, local residential building codes and requirements specific to your project.

We worked with Derrek after interviewing 3 other architects. He has an ease while being very disciplined. He also has a fluidity of communication that we highly value. We really enjoyed renovating our mid century home with his expertise. He respected the original architecture and really heard our own ideas as he helped bring our living situation up to date. Our general contractor also enjoys working with him—Derrek’s all-around great!!

Derrek is amazing! So professional, so talented... was always available when we had questions. We had a very tough project with lots of permits,a retaining wall, etc... and he always got any answer we needed. He designed the perfect extension for us and was there overseeing the project every step of the way!

Mr. Benson is willing to go the extra mile to make sure the client is content with the deisgn of the project. He will work on your project until he gets it right. He is professional, responsible and diligent.. During construction of the house he comes out to the project to make sure the house is being constructed according to the plans. He always takes your phone calls and spends as much time as you need if you have a question that you need answered. I would highly recommend Mr .Benson and his team for your next project. You will enjoy working side by side with him.

You and your Wife were so close to letting me go. I said, please give me one last chance, I am confident that I will design you am amazing project. Knowing that I had to change up the design strategy to fit the site requirements I came up with a whole new design approach. I did not sleep until I got it right. Once I designed it I was very proud of myself knowing that you both would love it, AND YOU BOTH DID. To this day after designing many projects you were the one client who really tested me. There was no way I was going to fail, I am not built that way. I am so happy you Both loved your new Home and kept a relationship with me after so many years.

I would highly recommend Derrek as an architect. He is not only a nice person and easy to work with, but he clearly has creativity, vision and finesse. I think he offers more than a typical architect with his fine eye for detail and strong aesthetic sense so he not only draws on his professional expertise but other talents as well. Any project is more enhanced and beautiful is Derrek is the architect behind it.
