About Us

Barefoot Dwelling is a full-service Interior Design studio in Oxford, Maryland specializing in residential projects and unique commercial spaces. We develop each project with a creative vision and an out-of-the-box approach to design and work closely with architects, builders and clients to ensure that spaces are functional, beautiful and personal. Our projects feature a curated mix of authentic mid-century modern and antique furniture, industrial touches, distinctive wall art, and beautiful furnishings, textiles and lighting. From concept to completion we assist clients through every step of the process and will transform your home or business into a one-of-a-kind, exceptional space. Located at 100 W Division St. in historic Oxford, Maryland, the Barefoot Dwelling studio is open by appointment and by chance. As a professional designer of residential projects ranging from small additions to large custom homes I can highly recommend Lisa of Barefoot Dwelling. Her designs enhance or improve the original design intent of the project. Her attention to detail is superlative and her concern for the client is unsurpassed, the consummate professional.

Lisa created a nice flow to what was a boxy and separated living area. Lisa pushed us to do things outside of our comfort zone, but with sensitivity to our preferences. Found ways to reuse and refurbish things, so that we weren't purchasing all new items and creating a lot of environmental trash. Also, Lisa was able to source older items and create something new, so that there was always an air of history. Lisa was able to bring a lot of texture and comfort and beauty into our home. She also worked with a multitude of contractors and vendors, leaving little for us to do other than to make final decisions. In short, Lisa is fantastic, and clearly an expert in home design.

Lisa at Barefoot Dwelling has been a pleasure to work with! Lisa has worked on multiple projects at our home over the last few years. She has provided her talents to us for furniture, accessory and paint selection in addition to room design. She has an amazing eye for color and is able to incorporate pieces that are unique and functional. We would highly recommend Lisa and her team at Barefoot Dwelling.

I had a wonderful experience working with Lisa. She took over the project after a previous designer left the country and facilitated a seamless transition. Lisa was receptive to my ideas and I felt that she really listened and understood the look I wanted. Lisa has excellent ideas and created a space that fits my style and life wonderfully. I would recommend Lisa to anyone looking for an interior designer.

Lisa transformed my living room and entryway. Now the space is warm and inviting. She always considered the things that were important to me, specifically my 2 large dogs and my budget, in the design options she presented. Having never worked with a designer before, I wasn't sure what to expect. Lisa was patient and accommodating. In short, she was a pleasure with whom to work and I am thrilled with my new space.

Working with Lisa, at Barefoot Dwelling, on lighting in my new home was so helpful! She really has an understanding of the technical need for lights, like size and dimension, as well as style with a deep resource bank. In particular, I love that she presented several options that were in different price ranges as well as different styles so as to create a unified look that was never cookie cutter. She helped me to determine where I really needed to highlight an area and create a "feeling" in the space and also the areas where less was more. The bonus was her unique grasp of my project and needs coupled with a sense of adventure in the design that I may have otherwise missed. Because of her, I have beautiful handmade up-cycled custom sconces that I would never had considered on my own.

Lisa has amazing intuition when it comes to design. She seemlessly juxtaposes vintage finds with new or existing pieces. I love the way she thinks outside the box, resulting in a truly beautiful aesthetic. If you are after a collected look, I highly recommend Lisa and her team!

Lisa at Barefoot Dwelling has been helping me incorporate vintage details into my home over the past couple of years. I don't want a "cookie cutter" look and have an eclectic sense of style, but need help choosing the right pieces to compliment my home. Lisa has an amazing eye and has been essential in my quest to "mix it up". She is a pleasure to work with and I go back again and again as I continue to update my home. I highly recommend Lisa and Barefoot Dwelling!

Commented: What's in back of the frig?Hi Lorraine, the dining room is behind the refrigerator. It was already a lovely space so we updated the fireplace surround and light fixtures, but left it otherwise the same.
