Always going above and beyond the expected, Claudio is an aesthete and an artist with a keen eye for proportion, color, and quality. The tiling work he did, particularly with 4 custom tiles we brought back with us from Lisbon, is simply exceptional. His sharp mind and calm demeanor make him an excellent problem solver. For example, as we contemplated the faucet that was slightly too high for the door of the medicine cabinet to clear, Claudio realized he could raise the hinges of the cabinet door to lift it imperceptibly over the faucet. Our entire experience with Claudio and B&S Home Improvement has been like that. My husband (another perfectionist) and I will always work with Claudio on future projects and we give him our highest recommendation to anyone who is interested in working with him in the future.

In every aspect, Claudio and his team completed our renovations with expertise and professionalism. Claudio does what he says he is going to do, is reasonably priced, and is a perfectionist. Perfectionism in home renovations is highly prized. Most of all, he always has a smile on his face. My husband and I fully recommend him. Claudio and his team were outstanding to work with for our kitchen and bath remodel (as well as some side projects including painting, installing new lighting fixtures). They were professional, prompt, responsive, efficient, and considerate. Claudio was flexible at each step of the way with changes to the plan and very knowledgable in all areas of home improvement. His pricing was reasonable and transparent. He kept a tidy workspace and always cleaned up at the end of a work day. Lastly, Claudio was attentive to all aspects of the job, often touching up other small imperfections around the house unsolicited. Claudio came into my house this AM and did an unbelievably beautiful job on my back splash. They tiled and grouted app 30+feet of back splashand, and seal it to my new granite. They were clean polite and it looks amazing.

If I could give a rating higher than 5 stars, I would. I had multiple projects that needed attention (cracked well house that needed masonry work and a new roof, installation of new bathroom fixtures and tile work, ceiling repairs, etc.). Claudio's estimate was exactly what he charged. He replied immediately to texts/emails, and always alerted me to the times he would arrive. His work is absolutely outstanding. He's a perfectionist and he's trustworthy (because I work away from home, I gave Claudio a key so he could come and go as needed). If you want high-quality work and a skilled professional, I highly recommend Claudio. He's a pleasure to work with.

Claudio replaced the deck in our home as well as repaired rotted areas of the house. He and his crew did an excellent job removing the old deck and building a new one. The new deck is very large and sturdy. The project was done quickly and Claudio was able to deal effectively with the inspection process. They cleaned up the whole area after finishing the deck. We were very pleased with the final outcome and with the cost.

We called Claudio after reading a very good review in nextdoor.com from one of our neighbors. We were very pleased from the very first visit and assessment, so we quickly decided to contract B&S Home Improvement to redo from scratch our two 80s main bathrooms. Claudio and his crew are very easy and pleasant working with, providing ideas all the way, overcoming everyday challenges, very professionals, punctual and clean. The end result is amazing, we now have our dream bathrooms. Because of him, we will have to remodel the rest of the house to match up the bathrooms :-)

I hired B&S for a deck renovation (resurface to composite, replace rail and balusters) and a new storage shed. Claudio can do it all! He is professional, dependable, does quality work at reasonable prices and, he is very easy to work with. The shed looks great and matches our house down to the roof shingles and siding. Claudio, is easy to work with. He allowed us to purchase the materials for a shower renovation and he showed up and completed the work ahead of schedule. I moved clear across the country from California to North Carolina and was in desperate need of a lot of handyman work; being new to the area I knew absolutely no one and had nothing more than Houzz reviews to go on; based on those reviews I chose Claudio and I'm so glad I did! He's so knowledgeable that he immediately put my mind at ease. He redid all the featured lighting in my large new home and did a spectacular job, I'm talking photo-shoot ready work. (I wish a could post pictures!) He also sealed all the grout in my home and swapped out all my bathroom hardware. I'm definitely using him next for custom shelving in laundry and master closet as well as a nice outdoor deck. He's quiet, respectful, cleans up his mess and has a delightful helper that comes with him. He pays attention to detail and does the job right! You simply cannot go wrong with Claudio. It's been an absolute pleasure having him in my home and both my husband and I look forward to new projects with him.

We hired Claudio to tear out and put in a new tiled shower. He responded quickly, helped us with tile store recommendations & what to look for. He scheduled and did the work in a very timely manner, and did all work with quality, attention to detail and even helped keep costs down. We would recommend him for your remodeling needs. We hired Claudio to repaint all the trim, doors, and special areas of our 3000 sqft home. He was on time, fast, and took the initiative to make decisions and get the job done right while we were at work. I was really impressed by the thoughtful care he took to move all furniture, do great prep work, and flawless painting. This was a big job, but he was able to complete it with a crew member in 3 days.

Claudio has been doing work on our house for several years. There is no job too large or too small. He has done everything from painting to building custom doors to completely remodeling rooms. I have worked with B&S Home Improvement many times ( at least 6) over the past 10 years. They are excellent painters (interior and exterior) . They have completed exterior siding repairs, exterior painting, interior plaster repairs, interior painting, removal of "popcorn" ceiling. Claudio gives excellent advice and knows a whole heck of a lot about anything around the house. When I need to have ANYTHING repaired around our house I call B & S first.

Claudio has done work for us on two occasions, including plumbing and ceiling repairs, painting the entire exterior of our house, and repairing a fence. All of his work was excellent, he is extremely reliable and courteous, and his prices are fair. He is our "go to" person for home repair and home improvement. We cannot recommend him highly enough.

I hired Claudio to construct a corner breakfast nook in my kitchen. He did a wonderful job and the workmanship and quality of his woodwork is excellent. He showed up on time for the estimate and each day during the job. The work was completed on schedule and within the established budget. I highly recommend him.

Kitchen remodel with new cabinets, backsplash and countertops. The cabinets and countertops were just perfect and the tile backsplash set off the counters just right, At the end of each workday, the work area was as clean as possible.

I was introduced to Claudio Hortoneda through a realtor in our neighborhood about 10 years ago. My wife and I purchased a house built in the mid 70s that was in desperate need of updates. Claudio Hortoneda, owner of B & S Home Improvement in Durham, NC is a gem! We have had him do two major jobs for us so far - the first involved drywalling over all of our ceilings after the "popcorn" texture had been scraped off, and the second involved a major remodel of our kitchen and two bathrooms, including moving walls, installing windows and a large quantity of tiling. Claudio has excellent subcontractors for the elements of the project that he does not do (e.g. the plumbing) but maintains a level of responsibility and care for the house that encompasses the entire project. He is very easy to communicate with, very reliable, and does excellent quality work. In addition to all of this, his prices are very competitive! I have already recommended him to three friends, two of whom have had him do work on their homes, and they were delighted with the results as well as the entire process. Strongly recommended!
