Kent was great to work with. I went to him (and to others) with a basic sketch of a modern, butterfly roof home that I drew on my 9th grade mechanical drawing class experience to create. after the interviews, I chose Kent. He later said he really liked the feeling of the roofline I had used. After a few revisions he came back to us with a design that dispensed entirely with the butterfly roof (the only part of my drawing he said he liked) but instead was of a soaring, modern, well-laid out floorpan that captured the feeling and spirit of my initial intent, in a totally different package that offered a better solution to all of the issues, both practical and esthetic, that we had discussed. Here's my quick take: Kent listens, has strong and solid ideas that he is willing to fight for, and knows when to give client preference the priority deserved. He also "gets" that home design is a collaborative process, integrating multiple goals and points of view into a unified whole. I whole-heartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a creative, and I dare say artistic, alternative to mundane design.

Kent Thompson was an absolute joy to work with. The home he designed for us in the Italian Village area of Columbus, Ohio could not be more perfect in design and one just cannot be unhappy in this house! The house is designed with a sunny cottage feel and numerous windows that let in light and a spring time breeze when they are open. We fell in love with the house the minute we saw the drawings for it and we get so many compliments on the architecture. Every time we sit outside, on one of the two porches, we have passersby who stop to tell us how much they love our house and how it has helped revive the neighborhood. Not only did Kent design such a wonderful home but he was with us every step of the way in helping us choose items for the interior. From paint, doorknobs, bath fixtures, granite, tile, molding, doors, flooring, to even the fireplace; Kent was there helping us choose products with vendors and staff. He interceded on numerouse occasions with our builder making sure they adhered to the drawings and kept in line with what they agreed to and our budget. Kent was always quick to answer any questions we had or to respond to questions the builder had that his expertise could answer better than we could. Kent was able to help us build a Picturesque home, within our budget, using the best of materials and construction crew for our money. We have been in the home five years now and still love every inch of it. The open floor plan, airyness, and the feel of it being an older house yet new - it really fits into the old neighborhood we live in. We have two large dogs who love to look out the windows and bathe themselves in the sunlight that streams in! We can't help but smile when we round the corner and see our house sitting there, a place we never thought we would own. I would hire Kent in a minute to design any dream home you can imagine. He is full of knowledge, gets the project done, and absolutely loves what he does for his clients!

Our project began as a kitchen remodel. In discussions with Kent Thompson a new concept began to emerge - that of converting the old kitchen (which has no less than 5 doorways) into a pantry/laundry room and then adding a new kitchen and back porch to the house. Kent was great not only in working through the design aspects of the project, but in making adjustments when cost issues arose as well. The new space is very attractive and the traffic pattern allows for entertaining groups as well as cozy meals for two. The design works well with the existing structure and has added to the value of the property. The most dramatic effect of the addition has been how it transformed the rest of the house. We use our space much differently now and it has turned our home into a more desirable and comfortable space.

Working with Kent was easy. He always was right there when we had any questions. Our styles are similar so it was easy to understand where he was heading in the design process. He was very willing to listen to our demands and he delivered or he explained clearly why it wasn't going to work. I think Kent's mind is always moving forward. He puts heart and soul into your project and will work to get your dream on paper and then built. He worked very well with our contractors which made the process much easier. Despite a serious setback on plans vs costs, Kent worked out a design that has proved, over the years, to be a great solution to our overall design. We couldn't be happier with the outcome of our home.

When we began the process of finding an architect to design our dream home it was important to find the right professional to help us construct, define and execute our vision. Kent was very thorough, detail oriented, practical and pragmatic. He also brought a keen sense of design and creativity that allowed him to match our unique sense of style and eclectic taste. Kent was able to bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and leadership while carefully considering our budget and design preferences. Not only was he a pleasure to work with, but also brought integrity and commitment from design conceptualization to the finished product. Kent literally made home building a breeze and we could not have been more thrilled with the end result.

Kent with Archignition studio is a brilliant designer. He took the time to really get to know what we wanted to accomplish with the project, respected our ideas while gently directing us and showing us new, creative ways to take better advantage of the space without adding one square foot. Plus he made the process enjoyable and exciting. Not only is he excellent at design, but has a great eye for materials and surfaces that are different and give a truly unique character to our home. He prides himself on designing reasonable size, unique homes and spaces and believes that a house not have to be huge and ostentatious. I am related to the architect.
