Working with cabinet maker/contractor, Kirk Adney was a huge disappointment. I was patient and waited several months for his other project to be completed. In the meantime, we worked together and I followed his-lead for making decisions. Kitchen appliances were ordered and being held in the warehouse, cabinet design and finish had been determined. I was waiting for pricing from Kirk for the quartz patterns I selected. Then one week before the start of my kitchen project, he quit. What an enormous let down. I find it disrespectful and unprofessional. We had ONE misunderstand regarding timeframe. However, instead of talking about it and working something out, he sent me a TEXT saying I should find another contractor. During the time we were working together, my husband passed away. I was looking forward to having the new kitchen my husband and I planned together. To make things worse, I truly feel that if my husband hadn't died, Kirk would not have backed away from the project. That doesn't say much for Kirk's understanding, professionalism, or compassion. Do yourself a favor, find yourself another cabinetmaker/contractor.

Kirk and his son installed an oven and microwave and did the necessary cabinet work to accommodate the installation. What a pleasure to deal with them. Kirk kept us informed every step of the way, arranged the necessary electrical work, and showed up on time. He and his son and the electrician were efficient and pleasant to deal with. We recommend him highly.

When we began our kitchen remodel we had the usual fears of not knowing what to expect. Kirk Adney and his family gave us a beautiful kitchen, dining room and office. Kirk was very easy to work with and we were able to talk through options and incorporate our ideas into a design that is not only functional but beautiful. He was able to guide us to great choices that made the our kitchen suited perfectly to our family. The quality of work was great from the framing to the finish cabinetry. The furniture quality construction and fine finishing of the cabinetry was beautiful. He was able to take our thoughts and turn them in to plans that completely transformed the spaces. The ceiling was raised, a wall was removed and windows and a sliding door were added to give us an open concept that lightened and updated our home. We agreed upon a budget and timeline and Kirk was spot on with both. His suggestions of vendors to use helped keep costs down while allowing us choices of high quality components. We started out venturing in to a business transaction but felt we came out not only with a new home but with new friends.

We used their custom hard wood cutting boards to show off some products at an event. People were very impressed and it made our products really stand out.

Having recently returned to the Santa Cruz area after living out of state for 20 years we purchased a home that required some updating. Kirk and his son Kyle, installed a sliding glass door; built a beautiful Honduran mahogany built in shelf and handcrafted mantel (stunning!); poured a concrete patio and built a gorgeous pergola and the final project was remodeling our kitchen to make it more modern and more to our taste. Our new kitchen is fabulous thanks to the exacting work Kirk and Kyle pride themselves in doing! Kirk was a great source for ideas and was always upfront about what would work and what wouldn't. Anytime we wanted to add to the project, Kirk was always responsive and got right back to us as to any additional cost. His integrity, honesty, dependability and work ethic is a breath of fresh air! His finished work product has never, never disappointed us. I can't say enough about Adney and Sons. Not only do they do fabulous work but they are 2 of the nicest guys we have ever had the privilege to work with. Adney and Sons will never disappoint!

We can"t say enough about the crew at Adney & Sons. We agreed to remodel our kitchen 3 weeks before Thanksgiving. Scary! Crazy! Yet in our discussions, we felt comfortable saying yes to something unusual--a finish date. The crew finished our kitchen including: cabinets, counters, backsplash, special lighting and new hardware flooring THREE days before Thanksgiving. Our kitchen was now ready for a photo shoot equal to the pages of HGTV magazine. The crew was always on time, cleaned up and the quality of work was outstanding. We would not hesitate to use their services again.

We had a front door to be installed, and called several possible parties around Santa Cruz. Friendly and reliable from the first contact via telephone, Adney & Sons took a look at what had to be done (entry situation, new door, etc.) and provided a realistic estimate of the work. They did a great job, also given the fact that due to termite damage not visible beforehand, they had to come up with a plan how to fix the damage without leaving us without a door that day. Even though it was more work to do, they finished on time and we are more than happy with the result. Very professional work, excellent client service, courteous and accurate. If someone is looking for anything related to wood working, I would (and will) highly recommend them, and if we have any more work to be done I will definitely call them again!

Wow! Where to start? We've been showing off the results of Kirk's and the boys' work, every chance we get. Kirk worked with our original concept and goals, and improved upon them, (in a very respectful and considerate manner), by offering his insights and suggestions. He is very able to explain his reasoning, and/or opinions, in a manner meant to educate, which was very important to me, because I like knowing the reason "Why I can't do it that way", or "why it's better to consider this, instead". At the same time, he was respectful of my wishes and concepts, and helped us get the end result, for which we were looking. Along the way, (working with an old house of questionable construction), Kirk was willing to suggest improvements and alterations to our plans, enhancing our final outcome. Quotes, Invoices & change orders were clear and concise and well documented. Additionally, Adney's recommended subcontractors were delightful and professional, and you could tell they all worked well, together. I would recommend each and every one of them. Finally, Kirk designed and built the cabinets, to our specifications and design criteria, with great hardware, which we didn't even know was available. (One of our friends was especially impressed with the soft-closing drawers). I really believe Kirk's first (vocational) love is Cabinetry and fine woods. Adney & Sons are not simply Carpenters who can build Cabinets; ....................they're Cabinet Makers who build houses. Would I recommend Adney & Sons to anyone? Kirk Adney and Sons helped us transform our home by doing some of our remodel work. We are still in awe of the quality and beauty of the work they did. We hired them to do sheetrock, tape and sand, crown moulding, baseboards, door casings, and window sills. These men were a delight to have on site, with their cheerful good natures and dedicated work ethic. We have nothing but good things to say about this company and would use them again on future projects.

Daddario Roofing has had the privilege of working with Adney and Sons on several occasions. Whether it was working for us directly or with us on one of our re-roofs, they have always been professional and responsible. Kirk and his family have done a ton of work for me as I've been remodeling my condo in Santa Cruz. I've been completely stoked on every job, they are super pro, on time, clean, meticulous, and everything turns out perfect. Highly recommend.

Adney and Sons replaced our front doors and the hardware on our courtyard entry doors. They did excellent work, were professional, courteous and on time. I would highly recommend them and will use them again in the future for other wood working needs, not just door installation.
