In mid-2021 we began a large project on our property in northern Westchester, which included the design and build of a garage and upstairs guest house, a pergola with an outdoor fireplace next to the main house and a redesigned driveway. Tim Abresch, owner of Saranac Builders, was our contractor. We also had an architect who Tim coordinated with throughout the project. We broke ground during the worldwide Covid epidemic and had to contend with massive supply chain breakdowns. Tim was resourceful in acquiring the supplies needed to keep the project moving by researching and sourcing with local and Canadian suppliers. The end result of this large project far exceeded our expectations! Tim was always available to us, even for off-hour issues. His team of subcontractors delivered high end quality work. They were professional, responsible, cooperative and very loyal to Tim. This demonstrates how well he treats and respects his team. We continue our relationship with Saranac Builders to this day, not only for maintenance and enhancements to the new build, but also for maintenance issues in the main house. We trust Tim and can’t recommend him more!

If it were an option, I would leave more than 5 stars for my experience with Tim and the Saranac Builders team. They are a team of experts - delivering high quality work at an impressive pace. We valued their attention to detail, project ideas, constant communication, annd ability to deliver on a timeline. During the 20+ years that we have lived in our home, we have completed several renovations and an addition. We recently completed a full kitchen, mudroom/laundry room renovation that extended to include new adjacent doorways, lighting, and sound system. We had heard great reviews from local neighbors about Tim's work and met with him to discuss what were then just initial ideas for our kitchen. From our first meeting, we knew that Tim was the right contractor for us. He is extremely professional, personable, and easy to work with. He had great ideas for our projects based on experienced building expertise and an excellent aesthetic eye. He referred us to vendors for cabinetry, hardware, and appliances and we couldn't have been happier with those referrals - all were excellent to work with. During the construction, Tim was always available with an update and was on site frequently. I have never had a contractor who is as responsive as Tim. All phone calls are answered quickly - no waiting for days for communication as is so often the case with contractors. His core team of workers (Willie, Chris, and Steve) is kind, respectful, considerate, knowledgeable, and CLEAN! And his subcontractors (plumbers, electricians, tile workers) were outstanding in every way. Doing renovations can be so stressful and there is so much that can go wrong during the process. With Tim and his team, we were in the best hands, nothing at all went awry, the workmanship is stellar, and we are so happy!! We have found our contractor for life!!

We had a large porch built on the front of our 25 year old home in Bedford and it looks perfect in design and workmanship. Lighting, construction, paint woodworking, metal roof exceptional. Could not ask for a better contracting company and owner and workers nice guys.

Saranac and Tim were professional and performed all work as contracted. Their people were great to work with and the quality results were excellent.

Tim and his team did a phenomenal job with our interior renovation. His team of internal and external sub-contractors were very accommodating and provided excellent guidance along the way to give the best possible product rather than simply completing the job and moving on. The craftsmanship was second to none and always done in a manner to consider our desires. Billing was also an easy process without stress, which is not always the case in construction projects. All said, as an architect and designers we are very happy with the product Tim and the Saranac Team delivered and would highly recommend!

We undertook a massive renovation of a 1970s contemporary house which had been neglected since the '80s and Tim took this on without batting an eyelash. From his own employees to his various sub contractors, each detail of this renovation was undertaken to the highest standard and with good cheer! Our project came in on-budget and on time during very challenging times: we started work mid-pandemic in July 2020! We have hired Tim again to do a similar job on our lower level which will be a pool cabana, bedroom, bath and wet bar! Already underway and making fantastic progress. Without reservation, I recommend Tim and his team for his professionalism, good humor and ability to herd cats!

Absolutely superb workmanship. Finishes and details are exceptional. But what is visible is equally matched by what is not…the attention to detail and excellence in the structural and mechanical work is among the best of any builder we’ve worked with. Saranac is truly world-class.

Tim and his team at Saranac handled a very complex extension to our home ( most during the height of Covid) and just did an incredible job. I am a real estate developer and know a strong GC and his subs and each and every one of Tim’s team was respectful, diligent, hard working and skillful. Tim was always available when needed and often called and worked well beyond normal work hours to answer questions, discuss schedule and work out any potential problems. With any high end home, finishes are of extreme importance and here is where Saranac truly excels. The flooring, painting, and woodwork were all impeccable. In addition, Tim is just a wonderful guy. He is calm, easy going and fun to be around. I assure you that my 3 year old grandson concurs. ! I cannot recommend Saranac enough. They are truly top notch.

I have built a few homes over many years. My current home is an early 1900 stone cottage that is not square and required structural engineers with lots of complications. I interviewed several contractors but had a good feeling about Tim which is why we selected him for our project. I have never felt more comfortable with someone leading the project than Tim. His team (plumber, electrician, mason, etc.) has worked with him for many years. They are all first class and have the attention to detail that Tim demands. Tim updates me every week setting my expectations of what will be completed for the week and always seeks my opinion after he has researched various options before he moves forward. He has been straight forward, honest, detail oriented and a true professional throughout the whole process. I have never been involved in a large project without complications. Yes, there have been delays especially as a result of COVID but never any surprises. In my opinion, this type of honest communication and weekly setting expectations is the icing on the cake. The overall quality of materials and workmanship is extremely high. If you are looking for a quality contractor that also is a great communicator, Saranac Builders should be your choice. We hired Saranac Builders at the beginning of the year for a planned move to Pound Ridge in late March 2020 - all vendors were scheduled to meet in advance and came with great suggestions - our timing ultimately coincided with Covid and mounting restrictions, yet Tim and his team did a stellar job coordinating and continuing the work under the guidelines - we were so grateful to see the work not only completed but with such care and attention given the added concerns and timing. From the floors to paint, to lighting changes and custom wood details - we could not be more pleased with the results and the professionalism of the full team. In less than a month our home was transformed exactly as imagined and with such attention to detail and craftsmanship. I recently bought a house and engaged Tim to handle several construction projects for me. The work encompassed construction, electrical, plumbing and design. I am thoroughly pleased with all the work done. He was efficient and communicative. Most importantly to me, the quality of the work was his most important priority. I lucked into finding Tim Abresch, owner of Saranac Builders, on Houzz in Sept., 2018. I was looking for a contractor to renovate 2 bathrooms in a 1956 Sears house, to upgrade and make them ADA compliant and more luxurious. I read his reviews: "he has great pride in workmanship"; "he is pragmatic in solving on-site conditions", "he figured out better solutions than our architect". He is all of that, and also a very nice guy. In renovating our home, he opened a shaft in the MSBDRM closet for a lift between floors, expanded the finished basement, and added an accessible and beautiful deck off the breezeway. His team of workers and his subs are excellent and all was coordinated without a problem or delay. I've done many renovations in different homes over the years, and Tim is the most honest, straightforward, and competent contractor I've worked with.

If you are looking for a contractor, don't think twice - you definitely want to go with Saranac. Tim and his team completely transformed my bathroom which was original from 1960. His team was timely, courteous and respectful of my home. Tim himself was extremely responsive to any questions we had. He is very creative and can offer ideas that can enhance your space - for us he suggested a way for us to gain a second linen closet. my wife and i moved into our house in pound ridge about a year ago and decided to build an enclosed carport (with separate storage behind a divide) which could in time be easily expanded to become a full fledged garage. while wondering about our garage/carport, we drove by a garage in construction near our house. the garage being constructed looked very good and i contacted the builder who had a sign at the construction site. i found out the builder is building the garage for himself at his house. tim abresch from saranac builders and i met at my house to discuss a design to build within our budget constraints. tim recommended the architect thomas smith who drew a great plan according to our budget and ideas. tim abresch gave me a fair estimate of what it would cost to build the structure. after we received all permits, tim’s men started to build the structure at the end of december 2018 - not the easiest weather situation to build anything outdoors. five weeks later the very solid carport was up and we could weather our first big snowstorm with our cars parked under a roof. tim and i had some technical disagreements early on which were resolved to all our satisfaction through honest communication. tim advised me well with his professionalism and knowledge, he put a carport up which is better build than i could have wished for, and very important to me, saranac builders came in on budget. (sometimes one likes to build a castle with the budget of a hut - doesn’t work.)

Saranac and Tim did a great job with a pretty significant extension on our house. They started and finished on time and on budget, the quality of the work was beautiful, and the house feels brand new. Tim did a great job of making low-cost or cost-free recommendations along the way that added a lot to the project and quality of work. HIs team is friendly and did a great job working around our family needs, including our adding a new baby to the mix mid-project! We'd hire Tim again and highly recommend his work.

We recently worked with Tim and Saranac Builders on an extensive renovation of our 100+ year old Victorian house (changed layout including moved kitchen, built out master suite). Tim was great - super responsive, proactive, on site regularly and overall enjoyable to work with (he’s just a good guy!) His guys and subcontractors were also very courteous (important bc we lived in the house for part of the renovation) and did great work. The job did take a little longer than expected, but given the extent of the reno and age of the house, it was reasonable. We will definitley work with Tim and Saranac again!

As an architect, I have successfully completed numerous projects, big and small with Saranac Builders. My kids and I moved across the country to a fixer upper. We lived through the reno in the house. Tim and his crew had to work around my family, my dogs, cats and parrot! We contacted Tim late last March for a medium sized renovation for a new home we had purchased. Turned out the home had no insulation (thanks home inspector)! Our medium sized project turned into a full gut rehab (down to the studs) and Tim and his team rolled with the punches like you wouldn't believe. We had a pretty tight timeline as we were renters in another home (the lease was not extendable) and the guys from Saranac were able to bang out the project with ease. Tim and his guys were always available and quick to respond. With the nature of our project I am sure they heard from me more than they wanted to, but that never seemed to be the case and no problem was too small.. Tim, Curtis, Willie, Joe and Zack were were a pleasure to work with and transformed a pretty neglected home into a work of art. Thanks again guys!

I used Saranac Builders this past summer when I redid my kitchen. Tim has an excellent group of professionals who work with him, including electricians, tile installers, and plumbers. Whenever I had a question, it was answered the same day, usually within an hour. I am planning on using Saranac Builders again to redo my two bathrooms.

A team of real craftsmen, who delivery on time and budget. Saranac replaced and fixed wood on our house exterior, painted the whole building then converted a damp lean-to into an all season, glassed-in room. Great people to have around, tidy and efficient.

Tim and his team at Saranac were the best! We had a fairly extensive porch & flagstone rebuild that we needed done within a tight timeframe. Tim came in, listened carefully and got started. He touched base regularly for thoughts and updated decisions along the way and managed to stick to budget and timing. From the moment we met Tim and his crew, we were comfortable with him. So much so that we didn't interview anyone else. The scope of the job was large, as we changed every cosmetic detail of the house. He and his crew handled everything in a timely and professional manner. Tim made suggestions that greatly improved upon the architects design and created a much more practical & aesthetic outcome for us. Our new master bathroom suite is exactly what we hoped it would be and are enjoying it thoroughly.

I have used Tim and Saranac builders for close to 5 years and after years of satisfactory service I now have a different opinion. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Tim has become like many other contractors out there. He takes on too many jobs spends very little time on site and has trouble finishing on time. Tim is the type of old fashioned contractor who needs to make something on everything. I had a small job that Tim met with me and the owner of the company here it took 15 minutes. The owner gave me a price of $2,000 for his services and he told me that Tim instructed him to add $500 for himself(Tim) the owner of the company felt so bad he personally called me to tell me so. On our last job Tim was hardly around towards middle/end, It was a Master bathroom that he said would take 3-4 months it took 9+ months. We needed someone to do the last finishing touches. Long Story short he comes across Great, Look else where. Tim installed a front door for me 1.5 years ago I am having manufacture come here to fix it I called him and sent emails NO Reply. Thanks Tim after spending close to 1 million $$ this is how you treat customers.

We hired Saranac Builders to completely gut and remodel our kitchen on a very tight and firm deadline. They not only met the deadline, but went above and beyond to make sure that it came out beautifully. Tim was involved every step of the way, from appliance to cabinet and countertop selection. He and his team are thorough and very respectful of the rest of your home that is not undergoing renovations. The work site was VERY clean and the remainder of the house was protected to make sure it stayed clean while work was being done. We would absolutely recommend Saranac Builders to anyone doing home renovations, and will hire them again ourselves for other projects.
