About Us

Custom Woodworking is located in the small town of Gilboa, Ohio. It was established in 1996 by it’s current owner and operator Jerry Hovest. Today, the business is focused on creating high-end, custom-made spaces that best fit each individual customer. Custom Woodworking also offers a full line of countertops and can help with remodeling of existing spaces. Jerry started Custom Woodworking Inc. out of his own home over 20 years ago. In 1996 he opened the doors at the current location. Custom Woodworking strives to create beautiful spaces with quality woodworking and cabinet solutions. The shop includes four different display areas, a complete selection of countertop, hardware, and door style samples. Every cabinet is designed and built in the shop and is then delivered to your home to be installed.

I ordered cabinets and doors to be made for my kitchen in mid March. I was told at the time of ordering that they would be ready in 2 - 3 weeks. After many phone calls and text messages from myself and my contractor, my cabinets finally were completed and ready for pick up the 2nd week of August. Granted the cabinets are beautiful and expensive, but the ignoring of phone calls, no response to text messages and voicemail, the string along, and then the missing pieces to the cabinets was just too much. When the cabinets were put in, there was no rails for the drawer, missing trim and shelves, and a scratch on the door. I would definitely never, ever recommend this business.

My wife and I hired Custom Woodworking to build and install cabinets for our kitchen remodel. We obtained quotes from several different vendors and Custom Woodworking was by far the best value. Not only did the quality of the cabinets (actual wood boxes, soft close doors, cabinet finish, etc.) exceed our expectations, but they also helped make our design more user-friendly/cost efficient. They also came through on designing/building our custom bookshelf which has received numerous compliments from all our guests. I would highly recommend Custom Woodworking for your project.

We could not be happier with what Jerry Hovest has done for our home. My wife and I had owned our house for about a year, taking the entire structure down to the studs. During the entire project Jerry did a great job walking us through the design and layout of our potential kitchen and exploring several options. On the things we weren't sure about he gave us a handful of ideas on what might look best as well as items that were in our price range. Jerry did a great job at keeping us up to date while they were working on the project. We would highly recommend Jerry Hovest with Custom Woodworking, Inc. to anyone and everyone looking to remodel their home.
