About Us
Theodore + Theodore Architects was founded in January of 1988, and has since engaged in a wide range of building types including institutional, commercial and residential projects. All have in common a search for strong and simple solutions to program, site and construction. We collaborate as a team on all commissions in the office. The size of our studio allows us to focus on the careful production of architecture.
Our studio, located next to our house in Arrowsic, is readily accessible to the central Maine coast. After being trained at Columbia University and with working experience in internationally recognized offices, we have chosen a rural practice. Working in New England requires both the careful consideration of context, as well as an ability to provide innovative and resourceful solutions to contemporary issues.
We consider the buildings we design as part of an infrastructure, incorporating energy efficiency and sound construction techniques which are adaptable for multiple uses, like the row houses, mills, factories, barns and farmhouses found along the Eastern seaboard.
