The Umber Abode
Dining Room | Continuity, Craft, and Memory
The dining room reflects a sensitive balance between heritage and contemporary refinement. At its centre stands a dining table whose base has been repurposed from the client’s original
furniture, preserving sentiment while elevating its expression through a contemporary marble tabletop. This thoughtful reuse lends the space emotional depth and authenticity.
The same marble is carried onto the crockery unit, allowing material continuity to reinforce visual cohesion. The TV wall’s extension into the dining area forms a grand backdrop, enhancing the spatial drama without overpowering it.
Discreetly integrated within the dining space is a mandir concealed behind sandwiched-glass pocket doors. Designed to remain unobtrusive when closed, it reveals itself only when required— honouring tradition while respecting the home’s modern aesthetic.
