The Sun-Sculpted Spiral Dream

The most vibrant space of this house is the dining room which is centrally located and is naturally lit with a skylight reflecting the shape of the pocket between the curved mass. The play of light and shadow thrown on the dining table with the changing seasons and sun positions is quite interesting and makes for a dynamic interaction space. The shape of the dining table is also notable making optimum use of the space available and reflecting the shape of the skylight above it. The built in bench on one side of the table forms a cosy seating corner for a young crowd while chairs can be used by the older generation. Since the spaces created were unique with curved walls, the furniture too had to be custom made to suit the context.
