The Dining Room showcasing K2India's line of Mid-Century Furniture
On the focal wall of the Dining Room is a superb old Kalamkari textile depicting a 'Ramapatha- abhiskekam', the crowning of Rama. The ceiling light is modern, the pedestal light is Italian, from Penta. On the 19th century Victorian chiffonier is an antique Ostler oil lamp from Lucknow. Collections of shells, rocks and other "natural" artefacts are used throughout the house, together with khasdaans, paandans and baskets collected from travels around India and other countries. The dining table, designed by Kohelika Kohli, is made from a single piece of thick teak wood from Bali and is placed on a custom-designed mild steel base. The dining chairs are from K2India's line of mid-century furniture. They are juxtaposed with reproductions of Victorian hall chairs, at the head and foot of the table. On the table runner, which is an antique Uzbek tent hanging, sit a row of bronze candle stands from Indonesia.
