A colossal rectangular island defines this kitchen as the main gathering place for families and friends. 2" thick mitered edge granite countertops around the perimeter of the kitchen are interspersed with a gray contrasting island. Inspiration for a traditional L-shaped eat-in kitchen in Houston Metro with a farmhouse sink, binset cabinets, white cabinets, granite countertops, herringbone backsplash, charging stations and stainless steel appliances. — Houzz

This under the microwave drawer is also another great option for storing those baking sheets and dishes.

This bright kitchen features white shaker style, glass-front cabinets with gray granite countertops. A simple kitchen backsplash brings the look together, while gleaming light hardwood floors offers a classic touch. White crown molding at the top of the cabinets makes the whole room appear taller and offers a high-end flair.

In order to remove the load bearing wall and achieve the open floor plan that the homeowners desired, a steel beam was installed to carry the load from one side of the room to the other. The beam was left exposed and painted a charcoal gray for interest. Andrea Rugg Photography

Inspired by the non symmetrical rhomboid shape Grey created this organically contoured island to fit the space perfectly. The hob is dropped into the concrete dais and a stunning wooden chopping board extends the entire length of one side. Grey favours concrete for islands as he says “it offers scope for customisation and also provides a contrast to surrounding wooden cabinetry, laminated and steel surfaces”. The raised solid English ash sever bar adds another level both visually and practically. The base is lifted on one side to allow light to play across the floor. The creative use of texture and shape add a sculptural dimension to this stunning yet functional piece.

The homeowners sought to create a modest, modern, lakeside cottage, nestled into a narrow lot in Tonka Bay. The site inspired a modified shotgun-style floor plan, with rooms laid out in succession from front to back. Simple and authentic materials provide a soft and inviting palette for this modern home. Wood finishes in both warm and soft grey tones complement a combination of clean white walls, blue glass tiles, steel frames, and concrete surfaces. Sustainable strategies were incorporated to provide healthy living and a net-positive-energy-use home. Onsite geothermal, solar panels, battery storage, insulation systems, and triple-pane windows combine to provide independence from frequent power outages and supply excess power to the electrical grid. This Houston kitchen remodel turned an outdated bachelor pad into a contemporary dream fit for newlyweds. The client wanted a contemporary, somewhat commercial look, but also something homey with a comfy, family feel. And they couldn't go too contemporary, since the style of the home is so traditional. The clean, contemporary, white-black-and-grey color scheme is just the beginning of this transformation from the previous kitchen, The revamped 20-by-15-foot kitchen and adjoining dining area also features new stainless steel appliances by Maytag, lighting and furnishings by Restoration Hardware and countertops in white Carrara marble and Absolute Black honed granite. The paneled oak cabinets are now painted a crisp, bright white and finished off with polished nickel pulls. The center island is now a cool grey a few shades darker than the warm grey on the walls. On top of the grey on the new sheetrock, previously covered in a camel-colored textured paint, is Sherwin Williams' Faux Impressions sparkly "Striae Quartz Stone." Ho-hum 12-inch ceramic floor tiles with a western motif border have been replaced with grey tile "planks" resembling distressed wood. An oak-paneled flush-mount light fixture has given way to recessed lights and barn pendant lamps in oil rubbed bronze from Restoration Hardware. And the section housing clunky upper and lower banks of cabinets between the kitchen an dining area now has a sleek counter-turned-table with custom-milled legs. At first, the client wanted to open up that section altogether, but then realized they needed more counter space. The table - a continuation of the granite countertop - was the perfect solution. Plus, it offered space for extra seating. The black, high-back and low-back bar stools are also from Restoration Hardware - as is the new round chandelier and the dining table over which it hangs. Outdoor Homescapes of Houston also took out a wall between the kitchen and living room and remodeled the adjoining living room as well. A decorative cedar beam stained Minwax Jacobean now spans the ceiling where the wall once stood. The oak paneling and stairway railings in the living room, meanwhile, also got a coat of white paint and new window treatments and light fixtures from Restoration Hardware. Staining the top handrailing with the same Jacobean dark stain, however, boosted the new contemporary look even more. The outdoor living space also got a revamp, with a new patio ceiling also stained Jacobean and new outdoor furniture and outdoor area rug from Restoration Hardware. The furniture is from the Klismos collection, in weathered zinc, with Sunbrella fabric in the color "Smoke."

By installing White Macaubas Quartzite countertops, these homeowner's were able to obtain the look of marble without its porous qualities and maintenance. These natural stone countertops complement the polished Calacata Gold marble and glass Toledo pattern mosaic tile backsplash wonderfully, making it stand out like an art piece. We partnered with DPM Designs, LLC of Medford, NJ on this project.

A large Duravit Vero bathtub bestows the occupant with beautiful views across the garden whilst they relax. Small alcoves at either end provide space for decoration and placement of necessities such as candles and lotions. The natural grey 'Madagascar' porcelain wall and floor tiles from Porcelanosa have a realistic stone pattern which adds a visual element of interest to the surface finish. Darren Chung
