The latch is operable from both sides and is suitable for both in-swinging and out-swinging gates. On out-swinging gates, the latch-arm side will be installed on the street-side (outside) of your gate. The gate latch will naturally patina over time. Note the wood gate stop on the outside of the gate. It's installed to the stucco wall. The purpose of the stop is to protect the gate latch's arm in instances of slamming. Client-provided photos.
