South Barrington Residence

This octagon shaped kitchen was in need of an aesthetic and functional update. We used rich materials and fine details that fill the space more accurately than what was there previously. The client was happy with their existing cooktop with downdraft, however I felt the space was missing a dramatic focal point. We added the chimney hood that spans to the turret ceiling as a non functioning piece. We also extended their kitchen outside of the octagon area by removing a pantry. The added cabinets and counter top space more than make up for the pantry and desk area that was lost. A space for the television was a must have and an issue. To mount a tv on the wall in this bright kitchen would be an eye sore and placing it on the counter top with a cable box and wires would create clutter. The solution? Place it under the countertop on a Nexus TV lift system with wireless AV components. This picture shows the lift in the down position.
