Featuring sock arms, wedge legs, semi-attached bed-pillow back and boxed seat cushions, Alex lends itself to a relaxed environment. Walnut is the standard finish on the legs. Our Long Island studio designed this stunning home with bright neutrals and classic pops to create a warm, welcoming home with modern amenities. In the kitchen, we chose a blue and white theme and added leather high chairs to give it a classy appeal. Sleek pendants add a hint of elegance. In the dining room, comfortable chairs with chequered upholstery create a statement. We added a touch of drama by painting the ceiling a deep aubergine. AJI also added a sitting space with a comfortable couch and chairs to bridge the kitchen and the main living space. The family room was designed to create maximum space for get-togethers with a comfy sectional and stylish swivel chairs. The unique wall decor creates interesting pops of color. In the master suite upstairs, we added walk-in closets and a twelve-foot-long window seat. For a client with a deep appreciation for all manner of architectural styles – and the passion to transform his lifelong dream of a single home showcasing their wide variety into reality – we were thrilled to meet the challenge. Consider the elements: an English conservatory-style kitchen. A Bahamian plantation-inspired bedroom. Florentine palazzos, Swiss chalets, Lowcountry fishing huts – all informed our journey from broad concept to unified, cohesive actuality. First and foremost a home meant to cosset and comfort an active family, it is also an elegant and gracious example of the many handcrafted arts too seldom seen. From custom ceiling treatments to hand-woven rugs, evidence of the artist’s hand abounds, imparting exquisite detail on virtually each and every surface. Nestled waterside along shimmering shores, this home is truly a dream come true – and proof the fanciful notions of the heart can indeed be transformed into functional living spaces that nurture, inspire, and satisfy the soul. The beauty of this room lies within the seamless juxtaposition of taking a completely traditional setting and imbuing it with unpredictability. The space echoes a sophisticated air while maintaining a coyness that is flirty. Inviting and welcoming, this room grabs you from the moment you walk in. The furniture includes a remarkable hand benched tufted sofa whose exquisite detail takes a commanding presence in the room, swivel chairs that flank the sofa allowing for flexible seating and ottomans that are easily moved to welcome more guests to the seating area. The masculine feel of the piece is softened with the touches like a tassel base lamp and the dashes of fuschia that add an incredible energy in the mainly neutral palette. A silk and wool rug add an incredible texture and play well against the deep espresso-stained rift and quartersawn white oak floors. This room is also incredibly accommodating for entertaining as it functions as a living room as well as a formal dining room, allowing guests to fluidly interact within the space. The high lacquer sculpted white table is centered within a beautiful bay window that overlooks the gardens and flanked by a pair of drapes that frame the view. The head chairs, swathed in a deep magenta, draw the eye to the grouping upon entering the room. A graceful chain chandelier hangs overhead illuminating the table.
