4. Speakers and subwoofersWhile speakers are pointed at producing a range of frequencies, subwoofers provide the ‘bass effect’ through low-frequency sound. If you’re an audiophile, you know that the audio quality can make or break your movie-watching experience. Take your time choosing a speaker system that reflects your requirements, budget and room size. Considerations Sound quality, depth and clarity are directly proportional to the number of speakers. However, the greater the number of speakers (more on this later), the more space you need. Establish a trade-off between your desired sound quality and the size of your room.
5. Where: HyderabadInterior designer: Aamir & Hameeda AssociatesThis entertainment room is a tasteful example of how to mix black with large doses of bright colour without looking jarring. The use of black has been restrained to one part of the room, namely in the ebony woodwork, which is livened up by bold colourful artwork. Industrial-style black beams crossing the ceiling hold the look together.Browse through more images
Aamir and Hameeda AssociatesWe love this room highlighted by its laid-back luxury, sink-in seats, an eye-catching blue hue and an enticing library of DVDs kept in the background. A perfect setting for movies and Netflix.
Embrace the industrialThe industrial look is not for everyone and this might be another reason for you to try it. A false ceiling usually hides the electrical pipes and air-conditioning ducts that are considered ‘ugly’ by many (not me). Resist the urge to cover them up and simply live with the veins showing. I would suggest you paint all these parts in contrast to the base ceiling to highlight an active top.
Aamir and Hameeda Associates uses leather finished seats for this home theatre in Hyderabad. Leather gives better sound absorption over fabric, plus they are easier to clean.Know more about this home here
The entertainment area is a frequently-used space in the house. “This relatively large space is especially designed for the homeowners to receive guests. It can accommodate a party of 50 with ease. When not being used for entertainment purposes, it is used as a library. It also turns into a quiet space where the couple can come to relax and spend some downtime,” Sharma says. The dark shades, rich furnishings and bold artworks create a relaxing ambience here.
Tip: Lighting the objects from the back help accent them. Throwing light indirectly on decorative pieces adds the extra oomph. Light thrown from below on transparent or translucent items, like glass, brings out drama. If you have art to display on your walls, then invest in recessed or picture lights.
