3. Where: New DelhiInterior designer: Sanjyt SynghThe designer’s own residence is a lesson in the use of bountiful black. Smooth ebony walls are echoed in similar-hued black-out drapes and a lush bed throw. The whole look might have been overwhelming were it not balanced out by the crisp white bedding, echoed in the plain white false ceiling.Take a tour of the designer’s home
“The master bedroom is an amalgamation of bold and dark colours,” says Syngh. To balance the deep-black wall and the dark ‘Leopard Walk’ wallpaper by Cole & Son, Syngh has flooded the room with light colours shining from the crisp white linen, a simple false ceiling in white and eclectic artwork on the walls.
5. Black and whiteA black and white shell can lend an edgy vibe. Using black in interiors is an acquired taste but if done right, it is unmatched in its crisp sophistication. If you choose to have all-black walls, create a coved ceiling, like this one by Sanjyt Syngh, to allow for an area of sparkling white as an antidote to the overpowering blackness.
